Jim Carrey's Cesar Appearance Spark Clone Conspiracy, Actor Being Left-Handed Raises Identity Crises

Jim Carrey, the iconic comedian, recently raised a lot of limelight after he appeared at the 51st César Awards at L'Olympia on February 26, 2026, as the actor was recently honoured. However, the iconic comedian was unrecognisable, and his new look instantly drew people’s attention. Some said Carrey’s changed look was due to plastic surgeries, others felt that the man in question was Carrey’s clone.

It’s a widely known fact that Jim Carrey is left-handed, and he himself has confirmed the same in many interviews. Carrey always uses his left hand to sign autographs and lift things, as the actor called it an ingrained habit. However, in his recent appearance, Carrey’s frequent use of his right hand was noticed by his fans, whether it was holding the trophy or signing autographs. Amid the speculations of Carrey’s clone, a recent video stated how the impersonator might have copied Carrey’s face but didn’t take care of the minute detail that the actor had left behind.

As soon as Jim Carrey appeared on stage to receive the award at the Cesar Film Award ceremony, netizens felt that the man standing on the stage neither looked nor sounded like Carrey. Dressed in a black tux with a matching black shirt and bow tie and a clean-shaven look, Carrey’s changed appearance caught a lot of attention. Well, some users claimed that Jim's eyes were brown, but in the recent event they were seen as green. To note, nothing has been confirmed, and team BollywoodShaadis cannot verify these claims.

Is plastic surgery the reason behind Jim Carrey’s changed look?

While clone conspiracy theories made their way to the headlines, there were rumours of possible plastic surgeries. Dr Millicent Rovelo, a well-known plastic surgeon, claimed that the actor might have had blepharoplasty. She observed that the 2024 photos of Carrey showed excess skin hanging over the outer edges of his eyes, but the recent appearances show tighter skin, making his eyes appear larger and rounder.

Another well-known plastic surgeon, Dr Raffi Hovsepian also noted the changes in Jim Carrey’s look. He suggested this fullness could be due to hyaluronic acid filler or temporary swelling from recent volumising treatments. He pointed out the increased fullness in Carrey’s look and revealed that the Mask actor might have enhanced it with cosmetic procedures. Speaking to RadarOnline, Dr Hovsepian quashed rumours that Carrey had undergone blepharoplasty. He stated that Carrey’s hollowed appearance and skin changes are due to "natural volume loss and dermal thinning." As the actor’s recent appearance raised many eyebrows, Carrey himself hasn't responded to these claims, and none of them has even been verified.
