The Indian women’s cricket team wrote history on October 30, 2025, after they defeated Australia in the Women's World Cup 2025 semi-final at the DY Patil Stadium. The team has reached the finals and will play against South Africa. It was Jemimah Rodrigues, who put on a splendid show and slammed an unbeaten century with a stunning knock of 127 to chase down 338.
Jemimah was visibly emotional after her perfect score, as her struggle wasn’t easy. She had to stage a comeback constantly. After winning the Player of the Match award, Jemimah revealed that she has not been doing well mentally. Not just this, the cricketer also revealed going through anxiety throughout the tournament.

Jemimah, who has been constantly put to the test, has faced many tough situations. She wasn't included in the 2022 World Cup squad, but she didn’t let that deter her spirit. Speaking about the same, she said:
“It was really hard this last month, it feels like a dream and it still has not sunk in. Last year, I was dropped from this World Cup. I was in good form. But things kept happening back-to-back and I could not control anything. I have almost cried every day through this tour.”

In the same post-match interaction, Jemimah thanked God for taking her through the difficult time. The cricketer also shared that she began quoting scripture from the Bible towards the end of the match. In her words:
“Not doing well mentally, going through anxiety. I knew I had to show up and God took care of everything. Initially, I was just playing and I kept talking to myself. Towards the end, I was just quoting a scripture from the Bible, to just stand still and that God will fight for me. I just stood there and he fought for me. A lot inside me was left, but I was trying to stay calm.”

Jemimah has been a tremendous performer, not just in cricket but also in other sports. She represented Maharashtra in U-17 field hockey and even played football and basketball at school. She left hockey for cricket after being selected for the U-19 state cricket team at the age of 13. Jemimah Rodrigues became the second player in history to score a century in a knockout match of a Women's World Cup since 1973. She is also the first player to score a century against Australia in a successful run-chase in a World Cup game.
