The vice president-elect of the United States, JD Vance is also an American politician, attorney, author, and Marine Corps veteran. In his personal life, he is married to Indian-origin, Usha Chilukuri, who is the Second Lady of the US. The couple got married in 2014, and they are parents to three kids. It was a few months ago, when JD Vance made it to the headlines as he defended a racist comment, and yet again, he's back in the highlights, and this time for his light-hearted remark on his wife, Usha.
Recently, a video of JD Vance and Usha Chilukuri made rounds on social media from an event in Michigan. In the clip, Vance was seen praising his wife, Usha for her role as the Second Lady of the US. He also said that he's proud of the fact that his wife is by his side. Well, he instantly made a comment in a light-hearted tone, which didn't sit down well with the netizens.
In the video that went viral, JD Vance was seen stating that one thing is there he would like to say. He jokingly stated that since all the cameras were on the roll, his wife, Usha would have to smile, laugh and celebrate, no matter what he said. Usha, who was seen standing next to him in the video, burst out in laughter with such remark. JD Vance can be quoted as saying:
"Here's the thing. The cameras are all on; anything I say, no matter how crazy, she has to smile, laugh and celebrate it."
As soon as the video made rounds on social media, netizens rushed to the comment section and dropped their opinions. While some felt that it was normal for a married man to make a light-hearted joke like that, others were against that idea and mentioned that Vance shouldn't have said it as making fun of a wife is by no means a 'flex' and rather 'disrespectful'.
One user commented, "He couldn't be more embarrassed of her and the kids. If she were white, we'd never see enough of her." Another user wrote, "That sounds like a threat. She should consult a lawyer and ensure the long-term safety and security of herself and the children." A third user wrote in the comment section, "His attempt at humour is always tasteless.. or is that just me?"
