US leaders have often held a special connection with India in one way or the other. Similarly, the current US Vice President also shares a special bond with India as he is married to Indian origin's Usha Vance (Chilukuri). The couple recently arrived in India with their kids for their first official visit since JD assumed his charge in the office. They are the centre of attention and instantly won hearts when JD Vance's three kids got off their aircraft wearing Indian ethnic outfits. The thoughtful gesture of the Vance family has become a new subject of discussion on the internet.

JD Vance and his family began their Indian visit by landing at the Palam airport in the country's capital a while ago. Despite the extreme heat in Delhi, all the eyes were immediately on the couple's kids and their meanigful attire. The elder ones, Vivek and Ewan, looked charming in yellow and blue kurta-pyjamas. They were followed by JD and Usha's little daughter, Maribel, who wore a mini blue-hued anarkali dress and a matching jacket adorned with delicate embroidery.

All the kids quickly ran towards their parents, who greeted Indian officials present to visit them, including Union minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, who wore a white kurta-pyjama. Netizens were impressed by the conscious effort put forth by JD and Usha to dress up their kids and symbolically showcase respect for Indian culture. One netizen admired the ethnic outfit kids wore and penned, "so cute". Another user wrote, "It's nice to know that they embrace both sides of culture."

JD Vance and Usha went directly to Akshardham Mandir in Delhi, accompanied by their kids. Moreover, their visit spans four days from April 21 to 24, 2025. During the visit, JD will have key meetings with PM Narendra Modi and other ministers to improve strategic, economic, and defence ties between the two nations. The trip will also focus on culture as the couple will visit Jaipur on April 22, 2025, to visit key attractions like Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal. Later, they will visit Agra on April 23 to see the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Taj Mahal. It has been a major stop for global leaders, including former US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, who visited India in 2020.

How is JD Vance's wife, Usha Chilukuri connected to India?

Usha Vance is the first Indian-origin second lady of the US. She is an esteemed lawyer by profession and was born in San Diego. But her parents belong to the Telugu Brahmin community, and they originally hailed from Andhra Pradesh and migrated to the US in the 1980s for better work opportunities. However, they continued to preserve their roots and taught Usha about different aspects of her culture, including the Telugu language. She tied the knot with JD Vance and got married in 2014, and in the following years, they welcomed three children: Vivek, Ewan, and Mirabel. Meanwhile, people in her ancestral village of Vadluru in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district are hopeful that she might make a surprise visit to the place.
