'Gandi Aurat..' Jaya Bhattacharya Recalls Getting Insulted For Playing 'Payal' In 'Kyunki Saas..'

Jaya Bhattacharya rose to immense fame for her role as 'Payal' in the superhit television show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. However, with the antagonist role came a lot of hate her way, as in the early 2000s, people were unable to distinguish between the reel world and the real world. Jaya revealed that once she was insulted in public during an outing with Smriti Irani, who was playing the protagonist at the time.

Jaya Bhattacharya revealed how she was called 'Gandi Aurat' in public

Recently, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Jaya Bhattacharya recalling a horrifying fan interaction while she was playing the role of 'Payal' in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She revealed that once she had an early morning shift and Smriti was pregnant. Since they were hungry, they decided to go to Lokhandwala to grab a quick breakfast. But, she had an unpleasant experience at the shop, while she was holding hands with Smriti Irani and deciding what to eat. A lady came and told Smriti not to stand with her as she is a bad woman. Quoting the lady, Jaya said:

"Yeh gandi aurat hai, iske as pas mat rehna bache pe bura asar padega."

Jaya Bhattacharya revealed she didn't receive acknowledgement for her role once

In the same interview, Jaya revealed that she didn't receive acceptance or acknowledgement for her role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. While it was initially just a cameo, it was later extended. Not only this, but Jaya mentioned that she was the most underpaid actor in the show despite it being a massive hit for seven years. She said:

"Us show ke liye koi award nahi mila, us iconic show ke liye. No acknowledgement."

Jaya added that everyone on the show got a Rs. 2,000 raise, but she was the only one who didn't get it. She just received an increment of Rs. 1,000 only once. Not only this, the entire star cast resceieved a raise every year, she had received it once after she asked the makers.

Ekta Kapoor is back with her famous television show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which ran in the early 2000s. The show is going to be back on the television with the second season. And Smriti Irani will be back as 'Tulsi Virani', which made countless Indian women, men, and children cry when she cried. 

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, Ekta Kapoor has officially confirmed the return of her cult show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She not only confirmed the buzz about the show's return but also revealed that the second season would be 150 episodes long. Sharing the reason behind it, Ekta revealed that when the original TV show ended, it was 150 episodes short of reaching the 2000-episode mark. She was quoted as saying:

"The love we have for this program brought everyone related to it back together to complete just those 150 episodes to reach that 2000 episode. This show deserves that."
