Veteran actors, Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan, are one of the richest couples in Tinseltown. The power couple got married on June 3, 1973, at Jaya’s godmother’s place in Mumbai. Jaya and Amitabh are blessed with two kids, Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. The duo will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2023, and yet they never fail to amaze us with their camaraderie.
Jaya Bachchan studied at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. She has been in the Hindi film industry for many decades and has proven her mettle in acting with films like Zanjeer, Guddi, Abhimaan, etc. Jaya made her acting debut as a teenager in Satyajit Ray's Bengali film, Mahanagar in 1963. And later, she became a popular face in the Hindi film industry.

On her granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast, What The Hell Navya, Jaya Bachchan opened up about her first paycheck and admitted that she had no relationship with money when she started working. Mentioning that she was only 13 at the time, she doesn't remember how much she was paid for her role. In her words:
“I had no relationship with money. The first salary I got was at the age of 13. I don’t even know how much I was paid.”
However, further in the conversation, Jaya Bachchan revealed that when she came to have an understanding of money, she paid for her education after joining the film institute. Mentioning that she didn't want her father to pay for her studies, the actress said:
“When I went to the institute to study, I told my father I don’t want him to finance me, I paid for my education.”

Jaya then talked about how women manage their money these days and revealed they are changing their stance on finance management. Giving her mother’s example, the actress revealed that her mother used to put some amount of money in a little kit in the name of God. She can be heard saying:
“I remember my mother (Indira Bhaduri) had a little kit, where she used to put money and say, ‘yeh bhagwan ke liye hai’. For them (older women) everything is ‘yeh bhagwan karega, yeh bhagwan ne kiya’ with good excuses.”
On the work front, Jaya Bachchan will be next seen in the film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
