Jaya Bachchan and Jagdeep Dhankhar get caught up in an ugly spat as the actress remains irked with the latter's tone

It was on August 9, 2024, when Jaya Bachchan shared her disapproval of the 'tone' that Jagdeep Dhankhar used. It all began as the Rajyasabha chairperson, Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed the actress as 'Jaya Amitabh Bachchan'. Such a comment by Jaya Bachchan upset Jagdeep Dhankhar, and he replied that the former might be a 'celebrity' but that she needs to understand the decorum. Protesting this, a member of the Opposition asked Jagdeep how he could tag Jaya as a 'celebrity' while she is a senior member of Parliament. Replying to this, Jagdeep asked if the senior member of Parliament has the license and the right to bring down the Chair's reputation. Jageep asked:

"Does a senior member of Parliament have the licence, have the right to bring down the Chair's reputation? I know you want to destabilise the entire nation."

"I objected to the tone used by the Chair. We are not schoolchildren. Some of us are senior citizens. I was upset with the tone, and especially when the Leader of Opposition stood up to speak, he switched off the mic. How can you do this? You have to allow the Leader of Opposition to speak."

Jaya further added that using unparliamentary words is just unacceptable. She also added that Jagdeep Dhankhar has tagged her as a 'celebrity' and said that he doesn't care. The actress mentioned that she is asking no one to care, and she wants to say that she is a member of Parliament and she wants an apology. Jaya can be quoted as saying:

"I mean using unparliamentary words every time which I do not want to say in front of you all. You are a nuisance, 'Buddhiheen'. He said 'you may be a celebrity, I do not care'. I am not asking him to care. I am saying I am a Member of Parliament. This is my fifth term. I know what I am saying. The way things are being spoken in Parliament these days, nobody has ever spoken before. I want an apology."
