Jaya Bachchan's relationship with photographers is known to the nation. She doesn't like them at all on any occasion. The veteran never even minces her words before expressing her dislike towards the paparazzi. Recently, in a conversation with Barkha Dutt at the 'We The Women' event, Jaya Bachchan questioned the paparazzi culture and, in emotion, made some startling remarks. Now, the famous photographer reacted to the same.
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Varinder Chawla reacted to Jaya Bachchan's shocking remarks for photographers. He stated that he has been in the business for many years and has respected celebrities whenever they raised a point of view. He pointed when Ranbir Kapoor told them not to pap their daughter, Raha, they agreed.

Varinder further stated that he had a video of Amitabh Bachchan from Delhi when he pushed a fan who wanted a selfie and yelled. Seeing his age and image, the photographer sent it to the PR, and they requested him not to post it. So, they didn't because they respect the senior actor. He said:
"I have been in the business for so many years, and have respected celebs whenever they said something. Ranbir Kapoor said not to pap Raha, same for Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s dua. In 2023, in fact, I got a video of Amitabh ji from Delhi. Ek fan selfie ke liye aage badhi, unhone bure tareeke se dhakka de diya, chillaye. Seeing his age and image, I sent it to his PR, who requested me so much to not post it, so I didn’t. Humne unki izzat rakhi."

Varinder further revealed that he knows that not all the boys on the field are right, and he had always told his team to maintain themselves and control their language. He added that he told his team to boycott her and keep their self-respect. Another photographer, Pallav Paliwal, also reacted to Jaya Bachchan's 'gandi pant' statement on a prestigious platform. He pointed out that her grandson, Agastya's, film is coming, and if no photographer covers the promotions, then they would understand. He added that one should not judge a person on the basis of their appearance. He said:
"Judging someone on the basis of their appearance, people who work day and night tirelessly… she might be of the opinion that we aren’t ‘media’, but we are social media. Print and electronic se zyaada fast dekhe jaane wala medium hai. If Jaya ji can promote Agastya’s film without paps, on her own, by posting on her social media pages, then okay. Aap itni badi hasti hain, aisa nahi bolna chahiye tha."

Recently, Jaya attended an event that was hosted by Barkha Dutt. During the event, Jaya Bachchan accepted that she is the product of the media, but she has zero relationship with the paparazzi. She stated that these people have no training to represent the people of India, yet with phones in their hands, they follow you and pass comments. She pointed at the remarks they made while shooting pictures and videos of a celebrity.

Jaya Bachchan further commented on the photographers and stated that these people standing outside with shabby drainpipe-type clothes with mobile phones in their hands, they think they can record anyone and make comments. She said:
"But ye jo bahar drain-pipe type gande gande pants pehen kar, haath me mobile le ke. They think just because they have a mobile, they think they can take your picture and say what they want and the kind of comments they pass."
