Jaya Bachchan Gave A Fierce Reaction When Rekha Took Oath Ceremony As Rajya Sabha Member

Jaya Bachchan and Rekha are Hindi cinema’s two prominent actresses who ruled the silver screen in the 70s and 80s. However, over the years, there have been stories about an alleged rift between them, and the reason is MR. Amitabh Bachchan. Rekha and Amitabh’s liaison is quite famous in the Bollywood circuit, and even now, their alleged affair is widely discussed.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha’s alleged affair rumours started when the two worked together. Since Amitabh was already married to Jaya Bachchan, Rekha was tagged as the other woman. Despite the many stories about the trio, neither of them has ever accepted the rumour. However, Rekha has often given hints about her love and admiration for Mr Bachchan.

Jaya Bachchan kept a straight face while Rekha took her oath in Parliament

Although Jaya and Rekha greet each other warmly during public outings, there is often a sense of discomfort that is seen between the two.  Something similar happened during Rekha’s oath ceremony in Parliament in 2012. It so happened that while Rekha took her Oath as a Rajya Sabha member, the camera was panned on Jaya Bachchan, who looked visibly upset.

As Rekha read her oath from the piece of paper in her hand, Jaya kept a straight face. On the other hand, with every sentence of Rekha, the cameras kept focusing on Jaya’s reaction. With her hand over her chin, Jaya closely observed Rekha and the way she spoke.

Jaya Bachchan was miffed with the cameras being focused on her during Rekha’s oath ceremony

As per multiple reports, Rekha’s oath as a Rajya Sabha member created a storm as many MPs complained to the Chairman about the camera’s focus on Jaya Bachchan. Jaya, who was also miffed didn’t raise the issue directly to the Chairman. Speaking to Headlines Today, MP Maya Singh stated that the Rajya Sabha TV broadcast focusing on Jaya was done in bad taste.

However, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla spoke about the incident and stated:

“Certain members raised this issue with the chairman that while she (Rekha) was being sworn in, the focus was on Jaya Bachchan. They were told that since the telecast was being done by Doordarshan, whatever visuals they showed, Rajya Sabha TV just carried those.”

Meanwhile, multiple reports also stated that Jaya got her seat changed in the Upper House soon after her seat was allotted close to Rekha. Jaya did not want to be captured in the same frame as her. Well, Jaya Bachchan did not did not give any reaction to the reports of her being miffed during Rekha’s oath ceremony.

Jaya Bachchan revealed why she didn’t let Amitabh Bachchan work with Rekha

In an interview with People magazine, Jaya Bachchan was asked about the buzz if she was the reason that Rekha and Amitabh didn't work anymore. To this, Jaya stated that if they worked together, it would be more like a sensation than the actual work, which is a pity as no one would get a chance to see the on-screen couple together, and they should realise that it would go beyond work.
