Jaya Bachchan recently appeared at the 'We The Women' event. It was hosted by the famous journalist, Barkha Dutt. At the event, Jaya shared her take on marriage. She admitted that marriage is an 'outdated institution'. She mentioned that if a person gets married, it’s a problem and the other way around. She highlighted that it’s better to enjoy life. The Guddi actress was quoted as saying:

"Woh Delhi ka laddoo he khao toh mushkil na khao toh bhi mushkil. But just enjoy life!"

In the same event, Jaya gave special advice to her granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda, who will turn 28 within a few days. Citing that marriage is an outdated institution, Jaya advised Navya not to get married. The veteran actress shared that she is too old to advise young girls on how to bring up children. She highlighted that nowadays things have changed a lot. She later mentioned that today’s kids are so smart that they are capable of outsmarting others. She was quoted as saying:

"I don't want Navya to get married. I am a grandmother now. Navya turns 28 in a few days. I am too old to advise young girls on how to bring up children. Things have changed so much, and today, little children are so smart, they will outsmart you."

Jaya Bachchan a.k.a Jaya Bhaduri began her acting career as a teenager and made her debut with Satyajit Ray’s classic film, Mahanagar, in 1963. Later, the veteran actress returned as an adult with her lead role in the film, Guddi. She has given several hits to the industry, including Uphaar, Koshish, Kora Kagaz and more. She was last seen in Karan Johar’s romantic film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.

Over the years, the veteran actress won numerous accolades, including ten Filmfare Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award. She has also received the fourth-highest civilian honour award, Padma Shri. Coming to her personal life, Jaya is married to Bollywood superstar, Amitabh Bachchan. The couple is proud parents to Sweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.

Navya Naveli Nanda is the daughter of Sweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda. For the uninitiated, Nikhil is a Delhi-based industrialist. Navya has a brother, Agastya Nanda. He has stepped into acting and is all set to make his silver screen debut with the film, Ikkis. The film also stars legendary actor, Dharmendra. In 2020, Navya completed her graduation from New York's Fordham University. In the same year, she co-founded a health-tech platform, Aara Health.

Currently, Navya is pursuing a blended MBA programme at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. There have been rumours that Navya Naveli Nanda had a relationship with actor, Siddhant Chaturvedi. However, in August 2024, the duo reportedly parted ways. While the rumours were rife that Navya dated Siddhant, the two chose to stay silent. Fans often noticed the similar backgrounds in their snaps following vacations.
