Known as the singing sensation of Bollywood, Jaspinder Narula was a rage back in the 90s. The popular and one of the most demanding singers, Jaspinder, sang every high note with ease. Every song of Jaspinder awestruck people. People still associate her with the cult song Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, from the 1998 film of the same title.

Jaspinder always aspired to be a singer and began singing from a very tender age. She began her international tour with her parents at the mere age of 8 and surprised many with her high baritone. Jaspinder’s father, Shri Kesar Singh Narula was a noted music composer of the 1950s, her mother, Mohini Narula was also a talented singer.

Since her childhood, Jaspinder has grown up in a musical environment, carrying her family’s musical legacy forward. At the age of 7, Jaspinder performed in front of a live audience for Doordarshan and surprised everyone. In 2025, the soulful singer was awarded Padma Shri for her contribution to folk and devotional songs. Despite her flourishing career, Jaspinder vanished from Hindi cinema. Jaspinder Narula’s breakthrough in Hindi cinema

Jaspinder Narula is hailed for her renditions of Sufi music, Gurbani, and other Sikh religious songs. She did her schooling from Guru Harkishan Public School and pursued BA (Hons) in Music from Delhi University. Jaspinder went on to pursue a PhD in Hindustani classical music.

Jaspinder Narula caught music director, Kalyanji’s attention during a private gathering in Delhi and he encouraged her to move to Mumbai. She made her singing debut in 1997 with the film, Judaai. Both songs sung by Jaspinder in the film became hits. With songs like Taare Hain Baraati, Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare, Tera Rang Balle Balle, Sabki Baaratein Aayeen, Bumbroo, Bunty Aur Babli and many others, Jaspinder made a permanent place in people’s heart.

Jaspinder Narula’s career took a backseat after marriage

From 1997 to 2002, Jaspinder was one of the busiest singers in Bollywood with four to five songs per film. However, after 2002, Jaspinder Narula’s career took a backseat. One of the major reasons behind it was that the actress fell in love with a man in Canada. Since her parents resided in Canada, she frequently visited them, and there she met a man named Man Mohan, who worked for the Canadian government. The two fell in love and started dating each other. In 2002, Jaspinder married Man Mohan, and the duo spent the rest of their time in Canada. Her career took a backseat since music composers thought she was settled in Canada. After 2003, she stopped getting work.

Rumours of Jaspinder and Man Mohan’s rocky marriage

Since Jaspinder stopped getting a lot of work, she settled in the US with her husband. In 2009, rumours surfaced that all was not well in Jaspinder and Man Mohan’s paradise, as the singer was reportedly living apart from her husband. Speculations were rife that the singer wanted to have kids, but due to her husband's biological complications, the couple couldn’t have kids.

The rumours created a rift between Jaspinder and her husband and she addressed the rumours in a fierce manner. Speaking to Tellychakkar, Jaspinder blamed the media and lashed out at them for calling her husband impotent. In her words:

“I am very upset with the reports and I am planning to take action against the publication that filed such a stupid rumour. I was not in the country for a few weeks and I started getting countless calls from family and friends asking me about my married life. The reports claimed that I was separating from my husband as we couldn’t have children and my husband was being blamed for the same. I was aghast. They even called him impotent, which is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Nobody has the right to report on my personal life. How can you talk about my personal life?”

Despite all the rumours of problems in Jaspinder and Man Mohan's life, the actress is leading a happily married life with him. The couple, who has been often spotted together at events completed more than two decades of marital bliss. There is hardly any information about Jaspinder and Man Mohan's kids on the internet.
