Janhvi Kapoor is the daughter of ace film producer, Boney Kapoor and his late wife, Sridevi. The Bawaal actress was extremely close to her mommy, Sridevi. However, Janvhi's doting mother left for the heavenly abode after she was declared to be 'accidentally drowning' in a bathtub at a hotel in Dubai during a family function over there, following a loss of consciousness. Since then, the doting daughter keeps remembering her mommy at various interviews and shares lovely memories with her.
In an interview with Hauterrfly, Janhvi Kapoor recalled how her mother, Sridevi, didn't think her daughters needed to wear underwear. The doting daughter mentioned that her mother struggled to accept that her daughters, including Janhvi and Khushi, were growing up. Thus, Sridevi believed that her daughters were too young for the undergarments until the Roohi actress told her mom she wanted one. Further, when asked who introduced her to her first upper undergarment amongst her father or mother, Janhvi said:
"No, that mama did. That's taken care of from there. She was in denial that her girls were growing up for a very long time. She's just a kid. She doesn't need these things. So, yeah. I was like, I think I need it mom. Like, I really think I do."

In the same conversation, Janhvi shared the supportive role her father, Boney Kapoor, played for her mother, Sridevi. The Dhadak actress revealed that her mommy was about to give up on her career after she was born. But it was Boney's encouragement towards Sridevi that made her realise that their children had grown older and she could resume her work. Adding that Sridevi was very conservative, Janhvi shared:
"She gave up her career when she had me. She didn't want to work on her own. Because she thought that 'I worked for so many years'. In fact, Papa was the one who was like, 'The kids have grown up now. And you get so much happiness from work. I will take care of them. I will stay with them during school. I will schedule a summer vacation. If you want to do this film, please do it. We will all come.' So he was very encouraging. It was never like, don't eat before I eat. It was never like, what have you worn? But mom was very conservative. And so Papa had to pretend to be."
Further, Janhvi recalled how her father used to empower Sridevi and her. Talking about how Boney made sure that the gorgeous ladies were confident about what they did, spoke, and wore whatever they wanted, the doting daughter heaped praises on him. Thus, she mentioned that due to this, the actress now needs to recalibrate in professional situations. In her words:
"He would always say things like, you are feeling good. You are feeling confident. Then wear what you want. I have always come from that upbringing and that lens. Where he was like, work if you want to. Wear what you want. Speak what you want. Don't worry so much about me. Make your friends. Go on a trip. He was very empowering like that. That's what I have taken. That's why sometimes when I was put in professional situations, I had to kind of recalibrate. Everyone is not like my Papa."
