South Indian superstar, Suriya needs no introduction, as he is one of the most profitable actors in Indian cinema. With his movies like Soorarai Pottru, Si3, 24, Singam 2, 7aum Arivu and many more, Suriya has cemented his status among the biggest names in the South Indian film industry. Although Suriya was already a mega-star in the Indian film industry, it was his film, Jai Bhim, that had proved the mettle of his acting prowess on the international stage too. As Jai Bhim's IMDb rating had overtaken the ratings of Hollywood classics like The Godfather and Shawshank Redemption.
In the year 2006, Suriya and Jyothika had culminated their beautiful relationship into the sacred thread of marriage. The doting couple's marriage functions had started off with a mehendi ceremony on September 10, 2006. On September 11, 2006, Suriya and Jyothika had taken their wedding vows at Park Sheraton Hotel in Chennai. The stunning couple had embraced parenthood in 2007 when they had welcomed their first child, a baby girl, and had lovingly named her Diya. After which, in 2010, Suriya and Jyothika had completed their family with the arrival of their son, Dev.

In 2019, while promoting his then-upcoming film, Soorarai Pottru, Suriya had sat down in a conversation with Zoom and had opened up about his romantic scenes in films. The actor had stated that although he does a lot of romantic scenes on the big screen, in real life, he is completely the opposite of it. Calling himself a timid person when it comes to real-life romance with his actress-wife, Jyothika. The actor had also revealed her reaction to his romantic films. The supremely-talented actor had stated that every time Jyothika watches him doing romance on-screen, she complains to him for not being romantic with her in real life. He had stated:
"I don't know how to explain it further. In fact, I'm not a romantic person. Jyothika would say that she has watched all my romance only on-screen and not with her."
For the unversed, Suriya and Jyothika had worked in many films. While some were romantic, some were based on severe societal problems. However, there's no doubt that seeing them together on the big screen is a surreal experience. Once in an interview with The Hindu, Jyothika had opened up about the impact of lockdown amidst the COVID-19 pandemic on her married life. The actress had stated that she had loved every minute of the precious time that she had got with her husband and kids because most of the time, she used to be busy with her tight shooting schedules. Recalling the things she had done during the lockdown, she had admitted that she had made some memories of a lifetime with her husband and kids. She had said:
"We, Suriya and I — both individually and together — really rediscovered ourselves and improved our quality of life. I started baking and sketching (something I thought I could never do), we travelled to our native family homes, and made some fantastic memories together. That's been my biggest takeaway from the pandemic."
