The 2024 film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, did not do well at the box office. The Rs 400 crore budget film earned only Rs 111.49 crore worldwide in 56 days. This failure took a toll on Vashu Bhagnani Pooja Films, and the producer, Vashu Bhagnani had to reportedly sell the Mumbai office of Pooja Films to repay a debt of Rs 250 crore. In fact, during the same time, the producer had allegedly filed a financial fraud case against the film’s director, Ali Abbas Zaffar. Now, the producer, Vashu Bhagnani’s son, Jackky Bhagnani, has come forward to address all the controversies related to the film’s failure at the box office.
In a recent interview with Screen, Jackky shared the box-office failure of the film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan made him understand that investing a good amount of money is not enough if the audience doesn’t resonate with the script of the film. He mentioned that this failure was a big learning for him. Addressing the same, the actor said:
"For me, it has been a huge learning. We invested a lot of money, and I realised that just scale is not good enough. Somewhere, we felt that the content that was made didn’t resonate with the audience at all. The public is always right. If it didn’t resonate, then I have to go back to the drawing board and understand why this piece of content didn’t resonate with the audience. I have to take that with a pinch of salt and not make that mistake in the future."
In the same interview, Jacky shared the film’s failure took an emotional toll on him and his entire family. The actor went on to share how his family had sacrificed to make Bade Miyan Chote Miyan a hit. Jackky also revealed that his family had to mortgage their properties to repay the debts as the film couldn’t perform well at the box office. Jackky was quoted, saying:
“I would like to say that the returns are not even less than 50 per cent. I don’t think anyone can understand what our pain was. As a family, we have mortgaged our properties to make this film. We realise that there is no point in saying anything or speaking anything."
Apart from being the son of famous producer, Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani is the husband of famous actress, Rakul Preet Singh. The couple tied the knot on February 21, 2024, in a private ceremony in Goa. Earlier, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rakul Preet Singh opened up about how her relationship with Jackky Bhagnani had started. The actress also shared how the two fell in love with each other and admitted that there was nothing extraordinary in it. Rakul also thanked the 2020 lockdown for bringing her and Jackky close. Recalling their journey together, Rakul said:
"I think it was very organic. We started hanging together and then a couple of months down the line like 2-3 months, 4 months we were just hanging and without any facade of who we are. And the coincidence was we were almost neighbors and we didn't even knew. We were not even friends for so many years you know. Till the lockdown happened and then we started hanging with our friends and it just very organically grew into comfort."
