Jaaved Jaaferi’s Mumbai home is the replica of his childhood memories, filled with the nostalgia of a young boy adjusting to his journey in Bombay. As he takes Architectural Digest to his sea-facing apartment in Bandra, Jaaved’s emotions go back to his first home.
Jaaved Jaaferi had always been a Bandra boy, having lived there for a considerable amount of time. He later moved to Lokhandwala when his kids were born. However, the actor recently shifted to a 7000-square-foot sea-facing abode. When he laid his eyes on the property, Jaaved fell in love with it. It was far away from the hustle of Mumbai, located in a quiet space with a sight to behold.

Jaaved wanted the designer to focus on creating a space with minimal sophistication. The family's living room has a serene feel with pastel-hued walls and plush, earth-toned furnishings. The entire house has textured walls with a Mediterranean finish. A well-curated showcase boasts a built-in bookshelf with artefacts and a huge collection of DVDs.

Jaaved Jaaferi moved to Bandra because of his childhood sentiments and also because of his children, Meezaan and Alaviaa. Talking about the problems with Bandra earlier, Jaaved stated:
“Earlier my problem with Bandra was that, with the amount of construction everywhere, buildings are situated amusingly close together where you can open the door and ask for a cup of sugar. But when I saw this place I just fell in love.”
With the advent of social media and OTT, the new generation prefers eating in their rooms, and the dining area remains unused. Jaaved’s new home has a beautifully-curated dining space which features a sleek onyx slap supported by two wooden logs, complemented with upholstered chairs. The space also features a well-sculptured fabric pendant lamp.
Designed by Kush Bhayani of KULx Studio, every corner of the home is carefully considered, keeping in mind the preferences of all the members living in it. From the intricately patterned rugs to the cured wood logs, translucent stones, and handcrafted wooden furniture, every space is designed with rustic elegance and modern sensibilities in mind.
Another important feature of the house is the efficient use of natural light. Jaaved’s son, Meezaan, a popular Bollywood actor, likes to keep his bedroom minimal. On the other hand, the comedian’s daughter, Alaviaa, a popular social media influencer, redefined the earthy finishing with a pop of colour. A statement rust-maroon chair from Bombay Design Lab, a sinuous mirror from Chic Casa, and the camouflage carpet from Loops by LJ added the much-needed oomph to her room.

Another interesting aspect of the Arabian sea-facing home is the long stretch of terrace, where Jaaved and his kids take long walks and enjoy the soothing ambience and calmness of the city. Though Kush Bhayani did complete justice to Jaaved’s home, it is the actor who immersed himself in every process of designing. In Kush’s words:
“Jaaved was part of the construction, actively present on site, helping us navigate a place he calls home.’’
