Jaaved Jaaferi is a well-known actor, and dancer who has appeared in Hindi films and TV shows. He particularly came into the limelight for playing comic roles in Hindi films and judging the dance show, Boogie Woogie. Apart from his impressive career, Jaaved Jaaferi is one of the few actors admired for their unfiltered nature in their interviews. The actor never shies away from sharing his straightforward opinion on different issues, and last year, his advice to his daughter, Alaviaa, on her career as an 'influencer' made headlines. He recently talked at length about the incident.
Javed Jaaferi appeared on the Prime Video reality show, The Tribe, in 2024, based on the life of some influencers' lives, including his daughter, Alaviaa Jaaferi. For those unaware, his daughter has a decent following of 350K followers on Instagram. However, he gained the spotlight on the show for calling out influencers and criticising the value and significance of their careers.
Jaaved Jaaferi recently sat down for an interview with Humans Of Bombay and spoke about the incident. He mentioned that his comments were meant to be lighter as he sees weird things online today. The De De Pyaar De actor mentioned he can understand that being an influencer is a great opportunity for a person from a small town who wants to achieve big. In the same conversation, Jaaved highlighted that he can't understand the content where a person turns around, where their outfit changes, or lip-syncs popular songs. At the same time, influencers should make something original. Instead, they are promoting the spread of more average content. He explained:
"There are people dancing, singing, doing martial arts, but all of this time pass. We are consuming so much mediocrity that we are turning mediocre. It's actually hypnotising you, and it becomes an addiction. People are just looking and consuming, and it's all nonsense."
Jaaved Jaaferi continued by mentioning that an influencer is someone like Mahatma Gandhi, who influences people to do something. He admitted that even popular actors like Amitabh Bachchan, SRK or Salman Khan begin new trends, but that's it. Highlighting his understanding, the actor said:

At the dining table, they had a conversation about work, and Alaviaa shared that she worked with brands. Her brother added that she worked with them as a social media influencer. In turn, Jaaved Jaaferi called out her work and said:
“Ye influencer na, no sar na pair. Koi bhi lukkha aa ke influencer ban raha hai. People are consuming sh*t."
