Halloween might have been over for quite some time now, but the spooky season is only getting good for It: Welcome to Derry fans. The first episode has already been released in the US on October 26, 2025, with the next two episodes following soon after. With new chills, spine-chilling secrets, and more of Derry's haunting past being revealed at every turn, if you are excited to watch Episode 4 of this horror series from Stephen King's universe, here's what you need to know.
The third episode of It: Welcome to Derry has not only heightened the series' suspense but also introduced a hint of nostalgia by delving deeper into Derry's horror-filled past. In the episode titled Now You See It, the children, 'Lilly', 'Ronnie', 'Will', and 'Rich', decided to go out ghost hunting with their goal of capturing pictures of their dead friends to prove the strange occurrences happening in their town. Soon after, they found a bunch of old photos in the graveyard, some damaged and some strangely well-preserved.
When 'Will' snaps a photo of a figure emerging from the darkness, that is when we get the first glimpse of 'Pennywise'. Through the children's spooky discovery, it is revealed that 'Pennywise' has been in their town for a very long time and has attacked countless people. Additionally, it is also revealed that the people in the town have been intentionally concealing or ignoring these terrible events for years, almost as if everyone chose to look the other way while the evil kept growing.
The history of Derry's hauntings is explored further when we see a flashback to 1908, in which a young ‘Frank Shaw’ encounters ‘Pennywise’ disguised in a circus. His friend, 'Rose', successfully hurts it with 'Shaw's' slingshot, establishing the weapon's role across generations. The show, in a beautiful yet haunting manner, connects the 'Shaw family', the town's indigenous community, as well as the origins of Derry's curse. Using these plot points, it is possible to see how larger conflicts and horrors unfold in future episodes, especially in Episode 4.

Better get your popcorn ready, as It: Welcome to Derry Episode 4 will upend all expectations and leave your minds blown. From the episode's official preview, which is already available on YouTube, we get a glimpse of the psychological showdown that is about to happen, as Chris Chalk's ‘Dick Hallorann’ faces off in an interrogation room with a local tribal man, ‘Taniel’. The atmosphere, thick with tension and veiled threats, will leave viewers on the edge of their seats as 'Dick' states:
“What they want me to do to you, it’s not going to be pleasant.”

In Episode 4, 'Marge', played by Matilda Lawler, also confides in James Remar's ‘General Shaw' about how she was stalked by the same mysterious figure responsible for the horrifying deaths in their town, seemingly referring to 'Pennywise.' Through these moments, we can only imagine how the show will raise the curtain on 'Pennywise's' origins and what fuels the clown's malevolence.
