Jack White, born as John Gillis, is widely known as the lead singer and guitarist of the American rock duo, The White Stripes. Behind the band’s foundation, both Jack and Meg White were equally involved. However, there was a story that grabbed a lot of attention in 2001. Earlier, after forming the band in 1997, Jack and Meg of The White Stripes established a sibling angle. For the unversed, Jack often addressed Meg as his big sister during the concerts, but in reality, things were different.

In 2001, the Detroit Free Press exposed them and revealed that the duo was husband and wife. According to the publication, the couple got married on September 21, 1996. Meg and Jack crossed paths at Memphis Stone, a restaurant. Meg was a waitress at the restaurant. The duo instantly fell in love and started dating. Later in 2005, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Jack White explained why they made up the sibling story. He shared that if they hadn’t established the story, people wouldn't have taken them seriously. In his words:
"If we had presented ourselves in another fashion… how would we have been perceived, right off the bat? When you see a band that is two pieces, husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, you think, ‘Oh, I see…’When they’re brother and sister, you go: ‘Oh, that’s interesting.’ You care more about the music, not the relationship."

In 2000, Jack and Meg secretly got divorced. Even after their split, the duo continued to appear together as bandmates. In 2011, The White Stripes had their last stage performance. However, in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone gave a subtle hint about what went wrong in his marriage. Although during the interview, the guitarist expressed that he didn’t want to talk about his marriage, he revealed that Meg was quite emotionally reserved. He admitted that this thing frustrated him a lot creatively. He mentioned that the drummer rarely showed excitement.

After parting ways with Jack White, Meg gave love another chance. She got married to guitarist, Jackson Smith on May 22, 2009, in Nashville. The couple confirmed their engagement in early May 2009. For the uninitiated, Jackson is the son of iconic poet and musician, Patti Smith, and the late guitarist Fred 'Sonic' Smith.

According to a report by the Associated Press, the duo held a small, intimate wedding ceremony in the presence of close friends and family. Meg was 34 when she got married to Jackson. However, the major highlight of their wedding was that Meg and Jackson tied the knot at the backyard of the former’s ex-husband, Jack White’s house. But in 2013, the couple got divorced.
According to a Tumblr report, Meg White dated Oliver Henry for a few years in the mid-2000s. For those unaware, Oliver Oliver Henry is an American musician widely known for playing saxophone and guitar. He was formerly a member of The Greenhornes and later joined the Soledad Brothers.
