Manisha Rani is a dancer and social media influencer who rose to fame after appearing on Bigg Boss OTT 2. She finished as the 2nd runner-up on the show. In 2024, she won the 11th season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, after participating in the dance show as a wild card. The influencer has recently been in the limelight for her Chhath pictures, making fans wonder whether the star is really married.
Manisha Rani once again celebrated her Bihari roots by posing in a gorgeous saree on the occasion of Chhath Mahaparv. The dancer shared pictures on her Instagram account, dressed as a bride in a beautiful orange-and-green saree, adorned with traditional jewellery comprising a gold necklace, jhumkas, and maang teeka. Her aalta clad hands looked gorgeous paired with a red and green bangle stack.

However, what really caught everyone's attention was the sindoor that adorned her nose and forehead. She posed on the beach with a soup in her hands. Manisha took to Instagram and shared pictures of herself and her love for the festival. She posted the pictures, wishing everyone a happy Chhath, and expressed how it is the love of all Biharis. She captioned the post as:
"Yah festival Nahi emotion hai hum Bihariyon ke liye. Jai Chhathi Maiya."

As soon as the pictures began circulating online, fans wondered whether the social media influencer was really married. A fan questioned, "Aap married ho Manisha Ji?" While another pointed out that sindoor is only worn by married women and said, "Yeh nose se mathe tak sindoor tak sindoor toh married women hi lagati hai hai." A user even expressed their hesitance about Manisha's look and said, "If you are not married, then you should not put sindur like how you did."

Some people criticised the influencer for wearing sindoor without being married. A comment read, "Shaadi ke baad sindoor lagaya jata hai or chhath poja shaadi ke bad hi karte hai. Views ke liye kuch bhi!" Another wrote, "Kam se kam apne dharam ka mazak mat banayiye photo shoot ke liye. Aap shaadi shuda nhi hain to aapne sindur kyu lagaya hai. Asha hai aap mera baat samjhengi. Jai Chatt maiya." While some supported Manisha Rani and lauded her for bringing Bihari festivals to a larger platform. They were quoted as saying:

"I've seen people commenting that sindoor is only for married women, but honestly….it’s about celebrating the festival and connecting with your culture, not marital status. Even unmarried girls applying sindoor are showing love and respect for tradition…just like Manisha! She’s glowing with pride and confidence, making Chhath Puja look even more beautiful."
For the unversed, Chhath Mahaparv is celebrated in the Bihar region of India. It is a four-day festival of faith that begins with the ritual of Nahay-Khay, meaning bathing and then eating. The festival is dedicated to the Sun God, who symbolises the worship of nature and cleanliness. The ritual includes married women fasting for over three nights and four days, following the Nahay-Khay, praying for the protection and well-being of their family.
