The tragic death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas continues to puzzle the investigators. After her decomposing remains were found inside a Tesla, registered to singer, David Anthony Burke a.k.a D4vd, it has shaken LA. Her remains were found on September 8, 2025, after the Tesla was towed from the Hollywood Hills area to a Los Angeles yard.
The unexpected discovery came just a day after what could have been her 15th birthday. Since then, there has been speculation about whether the 21-year-old singer played any role in the incident, as the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) continues to investigate.
After Celeste Rivas's remains were found in D4vd's car, which was not registered as stolen, he was immediately drawn into the case. Fans pointed to their similar tattoos, his song, in which he mentioned someone named Celeste, and some videos featuring a similarly looking young person. Yet, the LAPD has not listed D4vd as a suspect in the case. In a statement to Complex, the authorities confirmed that the Romantic Homicide singer has not been named as a suspect in the case. Consequently, he cannot be "cleared" of anything at this stage.
On the other hand, a police spokesperson explained that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause of death for Celeste Rivas. In turn, they can't list the case as a homicide or pursue criminal charges against anyone. According to them, the evidence they have gathered so far is not adequate to pursue charges against anyone. Meanwhile, D4vd's team has confirmed that he is fully cooperating in the investigation and has canceled the US and European schedule of his ongoing tour for this reason. Sharing their stance on naming a suspect, the LAPD said:
"The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez's death. As such, it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body."
While the police investigation into Celeste Rivas' case continues, TMZ reported that D4vd has made several real estate transactions. The singer transferred ownership of two Houston-area homes, previously held under a trust, to his mother. According to the legal documents, the transfer was made on September 18, 2025, and September 22, 2025, around the time when LAPD searched his property. Interestingly, the first transfer occurred on the same day that police responded to an anonymous caller's tip, who falsely reported a "swatting" incident at one of the homes. However, the police found nothing unusual when they arrived to check on D4vd's parents and siblings.

Meanwhile, Celeste Rivas was laid to rest earlier this week at Queen of Heaven Cemetery & Mortuary in Los Angeles. Her friends and family raised funds for her funeral and gathered to honor her memory. They carried her casket to its final resting place. For those unaware, Celeste Rivas had been missing since early 2024 from her home in Lake Elsinore. According to NBC News, her remains were identified through forensic testing and a tattoo on her leg.
