Born as Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan into a family of Pathans with Rajasthani ancestry, Irrfan was one of the versatile Indian actors. Irrfan had stunned his audience with stellar performance in his debut film, Salaam Bombay and since then, there was no looking back for him. Be it Ashok Ganguly in The Namesake, Billu in Billu Barbar, Wasiullah Khan in 7 Khoon Maaf, Saajan Fernandes in The Lunchbox, Roohdaar in Haider, Rana Chaudhary in Piku, Nirmal Kumar in Madari, or Champak Bansal in Angrezi Medium, Irrfan had put life into all of his characters. He had always embarked on the 'road less travelled' and had created his own path.
Today, i.e., April 29, 2021, marks the first death anniversary of Irrfan Khan and his elder son, Babil penned an emotional note for him. Babil took to his IG handle and shared an unseen throwback picture of his baba, Irrfan building his own table. Along with the picture, Babil wrote, “Chemo burns you from the inside, so to find joy in the simple things, like building your own table to write your own journals. There is a purity, I have not yet discovered. There is a legacy that has already been concluded by my Baba himself. A full stop. Nobody can ever replace him. Nobody will ever be able to.”
Babil also revealed how much he misses being his baba. Sharing that he would have built a space monument and travelled there with him, Babil continued, “To the greatest best friend, companion, brother, father, I ever had and ever will have. I love you so much, for the rest of this chaos we are choosing to call life. I miss you, more than all that shah-Jahan/mumtaz stuff; I would have built a space monument that could have taken us to the furthest parts of a blackhole singularity you were always intrigued by, but I would have been there with you Baba, and we could have gone together, hand in hand. (Exploring the last mysteries).”
