12th Fail is one of the most successful and inspirational movies of 2023. Written, directed, and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the biographical drama is based on the lives of IPS officer, Manoj Sharma and IRS officer, Shraddha Joshi. In the movie, Vikrant Massey portrayed the character of Manoj, while Medha Shankr played the role of Shraddha. Moreover, the plot revolves around the couple's first meeting, and their marriage, and shows how Shraddha helped Manoj achieve his dream of becoming an IPS officer.
Manoj Sharma had left his home and moved to Delhi to study for UPSC to become an IPS officer. Over there, he also met his future wife, Shraddha Joshi, who hailed from Uttarakhand and was also preparing for PCS. In a heartwarming interview with Lallantop, IPS officer, Manoj Sharma, and IRS officer, Shraddha Joshi, opened up about their unconventional love story that defied societal norms. Recalling their first meeting, Manoj shared how he was instantly attracted by Shraddha’s name and the fact that she hailed from Almora. He said:
“Ek toh naam Shraddha, uppar se sheher Almora. That day only I felt that there is something special about her.”

Though their academic career was extremely demanding, Manoj completely dedicated himself in trying to win Shraddha’s heart. It was the latter's interest in Hindi literature that brought them together. Over the period, Manoj developed feelings for Shraddha and confessed them to her. However, she was taken aback and exclaimed:
“Are you mad?”
Manoj Sharma believed in the power of love and was determined to be the perfect life partner for Shraddha. So, he persisted in his pursuit and tried his level best to convince Shraddha. He even proposed to her for friendship in order to forge a connection and said, “Can we be friends at least?” To this, Shraddha immediately agreed, and thus, the duo marked the beginning of their new journey that redefined their lives.

Manoj went to great lengths to win Shraddha's heart and even learnt how to make tea. He humorously shared that a person, who hails from the mountains, wants tea whenever they sleep and wake up. So, after knowing that she is a pahadi, Manoj tried to woo Shraddha with tea, winning her heart with such little gestures. Talking about the same, he said:
“Shraddha’s life depends on tea, pahaadi aadmi ko sote samay bhi chai chahiye aur uthte samay bhi.”
Manoj's beautiful effort to notice Shraddha’s preferences and swooning her with the same showed his commitment towards her. Though their story was filled with twists and turns, it eventually blossomed into a true-blue romantic fairytale. The couple challenged societal norms and showcased the resilience of true love, proving that love knows no boundaries. It was in 2005 when Manoj Sharma and Shraddha Joshi got married. The couple has two kids, a daughter named Chia and a son named Manas.
