Punjab Kings is one of the few teams in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that are renowned for playing an exciting brand of cricket. Over the years, we have seen so many incredibly talented cricketers donning the red and golden jersey of the PBKS. Yuvraj Singh, Kumar Sangakkara, Adam Gilchrist, Virender Sehwag, Glenn Maxwell, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, David Miller, and so many legendary cricketers have played for and captained Punjab Kings in the IPL.
In the 18th edition (IPL 2025) of the competition, India's star-batter, Shreyas Iyer, is the one who has led his side into their second final ever. For the uninitiated, Punjab Kings reached the final back in IPL 2014 when they faced Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders and lost. This time, in the final of IPL 2025, they're standing tall against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who are also playing their fourth final.
In recent years, we have witnessed tremendous growth in Punjab Kings, and a lot of its credit goes to the team's owners, Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, and Karan Paul. According to several reports, Mohit Burman is the biggest shareholder of Punjab Kings, while Karan Paul holds the smallest share of the IPL team. While Preity and Ness Wadia often make headlines, today, we will shift the focus to Karan Paul, a tall figure in the business world.
Karan Paul is a famous Indian businessman who has been a part of the executive committees of various chambers of commerce like FICCI, Bharat Chamber of Commerce, CII, ICC, and Bengal Chamber of Commerce. Not only this, courtesy of his knowledge and success in the business sector but he was also bestowed with one of Italy's highest honours, the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity, by Gianni Vernetti in 2006.
Courtesy of his love for cricket, Karan Paul invested a huge sum in Punjab Kings and became its co-owner back in February 2008. Since then, he has played a key role in strengthening Punjab Kings along with his fellow co-owners.

Apart from being the proud co-owner of Punjab Kings, Karan Paul is also the Chairman of Apeejay Surrendra Group. Yes! You read it right. The giant Apeejay Group has its fingers dipped in so many profitable sectors. From real estate to hospitality and shipping, Apeejay Surrendra Group also owns one of the biggest tea companies in the country. The conglomerate was founded more than 100 years by the iconic business tycoon, Lala Pyare Lal. Courtesy of being born into such a reputed business family, by the time he had turned 30, Karan had already saved and sold two falling business ventures in profit.
Moving on to Karan Paul's personal life, the Punjab Kings co-owner is married to former Indian supermodel, Indrani Dasgupta. The couple got married back in 2014, and it was the same year when Karan's team, Punjab Kings, reached the final of IPL 2014 for the first time since its inception in 2008. Karan and Indrani are parents of two children, Kabir Anand Paul and Uma Kismat Paul.
For the uninitiated, Karan Paul's wife, Indrani Dasgupta is often considered as one of the most successful Indian supermodels in history. Over the years, many experts from the fashion and modelling industry have labelled Indrani as the "Supermodel of the Decade", which speaks volumes about the stature of her legacy. Indrani stepped into the modelling industry at the age of 18 after she was spotted by ace fashion designer, Ashish Soni when she was studying at Delhi University's Miranda College. At the prime of her modelling career, she had stints as the brand ambassador of iconic international brands like Lakme, Allen Solly, Monte Carlo, Reebok, and many more.
Apart from being a former supermodel, Indrani Dasgupta is also involved in a lot of philanthropic activities. Despite being so successful in their respective areas, Indrani and Karan prefer to live a low-key life with their children, far from the reach of shutterbugs and the media spotlight. We hope they continue to lead a happy married life with their kids.
