Indian citizens in the US are worrying about the future of their soon-to-be-born babies as Donald Trump has put a ban on birthday citizenship. Not only this, but the new laws will be implemented starting on February 20, 2025. The moment the news came out, Indian couples have been reaching out and getting their C-section delivery appointment fixed before the set deadline.

Indian couples in the US are fixing emergency appointments and lining up at maternity clinics for C-section deliveries before February 20, 2025, to gain citizenship. An Indian-origin gynaecologist revealed that he had gotten calls from around 20 such couples wanting to opt for pre-term delivery. 

For the unversed, Indian couples are rushing for delivery before February 20, 2025, as US President Donald Trump has given an executive order to terminate birthright citizenship, which is a big move. It is one of the executive orders that Trump implemented immediately after he took over the presidency. So, children, who are born in the US till February 19, 2025, will only be born as American citizens.

Children born to parents who are not American citizens or Green Card holders won't be US citizens by birth. This is the reason why people are delivering their babies in a rush via C-section delivery. 

US gynaecologists reveal the number of calls from couples requesting for pre-term delivery

In an interview with The Times Of India, the maternity clinic of Dr. S D Rama form New Jersey revealed that he has been receiving a rise in number of couples asking for C-sections by mom-to-be, who are in their eighth and ninth months of pregnancy. The doctor revealed:

"I am trying to tell couples that even if it is possible, a preterm birth poses significant risk to mother and child. Complications include underdeveloped lungs, feeding problems, low birth weight, neurological complications and more."
