He was the only son of the royal couple, who went on to inherit their massive fortune and legacy. Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh was the second son of Maharaja Pratap Singh Rao Gaekwad. After his father, Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh Gaekwad’s demise in May 2012, Samarjitsingh was crowned as the Maharaja of Baroda at the Laxmi Vilas Palace in June 2012.

As soon as Samarjitsingh Ranjitsinh Gaekwad became the Maharaja, he took charge of the 23-year-old legal inheritance with his uncle, Sangramsinh Gaekwad, dispute worth Rs. 20,000 crores.
