Imran Khan On Why He Separated From Avantika, Says His Daughter Shares Her Emotional Parts With Him

Imran Khan is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood, who never skips a chance to win the hearts of his fans with his acting talents. The actor got married to Avantika Malik back in 2011. It was in 2014 when they welcomed their daughter, Imara, into their lives. Well, problems started cropping up in Imran and Avantika's marital life, and it was in 2019 when the duo parted ways. Cut to now, Imran is in a relationship with Lekha Washington. In a recent interview, Imran recalled that unfortunate facet that made him separate from Avantika, and he also talked about his daughter.

In a recent interview with Filmfare, Imran Khan talked about his past marriage with Avantika. He revealed that he and Avantika entered into this relationship when they were too young. He pointed out that being 19 years old is all about good intentions and good faith, but when it comes to long-term relationships, a lot of interpersonal dynamics and patterns stop evolving, and that also happened with him and Avantika. Stating how they stopped supporting and empowering each other, Imran Khan said:

"I entered this relationship when I was very young. I was 19, and in all good faith and good intention. But as is sometimes the case with these kinds of long-term relationships, particularly when you start at a very young age, a lot of the interpersonal dynamics and patterns get set in how you were as a teenager and as you grow, perhaps, I think all of those did not grow and evolve enough and in some way, we were not supporting or empowering each other to be the healthiest version of ourselves.”

Going further in the interview, Imran Khan revealed that it was the unfortunate dynamic of their relationship. Talking more about the same, Imran shared that he was halfway through his mental health journey when he decided to get separated from his ex-wife, Avantika Malik.

In the same interview, Imran Khan talked about his bond with his daughter, Imara. He revealed that he has formed a close bond with his daughter, which he always wanted to do. He expressed his wish for his daughter to have a sense of comfort and security to him so that she could talk about anything and everything to her father. He also stated that he wants his daughter to have the belief that her father has gotten her back, and talk to him without the fear of judgment. In Imran Khan's words:

"My daughter and I have formed a tremendously close and open relationship, which is something that I have really wanted to grow and develop my relationship in that way. I wanted her to have a sense of comfort and security, to have the sense that I am there for her, I got her back, but also the sense that she should feel easy and open about talking to me without the fear of judgement."

In the same conversation, Imran Khan revealed that his daughter has talked to him about some emotional parts she has. He shared how at night, when he put his daughter to bed, she talked her heart out and shared her feelings, and it made him feel overwhelmed. Calling this to be priceless, Imran Khan mentioned:

"She has spoken to me about emotional parts of herself. At night, when you are putting them to bed and the lights are dimmed, you have those 5-10 minutes of… it’s a safe, intimate space where she will talk to me about the feelings in her heart and at times, I have been so overwhelmed by the idea, by the fact that she is sharing that with me. That is priceless.”
