Imran Khan rose to fame with his chocolate-boy image in films like Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Katti Batti, Kidnap, I Hate Luv Stories, Break Ke Baad and many more. The actor’s handsome look created an instant sensation amongst fans, and his promising performances kept alive a sense of excitement for his further projects. However, at a time when everyone was expecting Imran to enthral the screens once more, the actor stepped down from acting. Fast forward to now, Imraan is back in the limelight, and recent reports suggest that the actor might be making his comeback soon.
In a recent interaction with the Hindustan Times, Imran Khan strongly reacted to being compared with his contemporary, Ranbir Kapoor. While the two have had distinct career graphs, and the latter has been especially hitting limelight for his successive performances, Imran, on the contrary, has been missing in action from the celluloid for some time now. However, when asked about such comparisons, he sassily counter questioned if any other actor’s successes meant that his own successes were worthless. He expressed:

“How do you actually measure this? And the notion that if I make a really good film, and it is highly successful, then someone else loses until their next film arrives. So when their film earns more, suddenly my film is now less? So should we erase all those odd films and any film that has earned less than 300 crores?”

Well, Imran Khan’s sudden exit from films left quite a big question among his fans, who never really expected the actor to take such a decision at the peak of his career. Interestingly, it happened to be Ranbir Kapoor, who was the first person to predict such a stance in the actor’s career. Well, the two once graced Koffee With Karan and Ranbir was asked to describe Imran suitably. Without any hesitation, the actor had said:
“You know, he also seems like someone who, at the peak of their career, would probably leave it. You know, if he just wasn’t interested.”
In one of his interviews with a leading daily, Imran Khan had taken an indirect dig on his contemporary, Ranbir Kapoor’s film, Animal. Well, without taking any names, the former commented how the current trend of films have quite easily made a glamourisation of violence, which makes him uncomfortable. Adding more, he said:
“I have a sense about where cinema is these days. There is a glamourisation and a fetishisation and sexualisation of violence that makes me uncomfortable. There is a way to portray violence. This is not a morality thing. Violence and action are… it is a language in cinema but when we communicate it, when we portray it in films, there is a way to do it where you feel the weight of it.”

Previously, in an interaction with Film Companion, Imran Khan discussed the main reason which triggered him to quit Bollywood. He remarked not really liking the strong focus towards money behind the success of any film, and not the earnest efforts and hard work put behind it.
