The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 kick-started on October 5, 2023, and its opening match was held at the newly-built Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The first tie of the World Cup was between the finalists of the 2019 World Cup, England and New Zealand. The match went in the way of New Zealand, as they beat England by 9 wickets. The much-awaited tournament will be concluded on November 19, 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The anticipation around the coming fixtures is huge, and with India being the hosts, the extravaganza and buzz around the tournament is on a notch higher, which is quite understandable.
There’s no denying in saying that India as hosts is one of the favourites to lift the World Cup 2023. However, it will not be a cakewalk for them with teams like Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan participating in this year’s World Cup. We will not see West Indies in the World Cup finals for the first time, as they couldn’t make it past the qualification rounds. The Three Lions, England are the defending champions and no wonder they would be thinking of making history by winning back-to-back World Cups.

As per multiple reports, the winning team of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will receive a sum of Rs. 33 crores. Whereas the runners-up will claim Rs. 16.5 crores. The tournament format will follow the round-robin and knockout format, which has been quite standard in almost all major cricket tournaments. A total of 48 matches will be played among 10 teams, and on November 19, 2023, we will witness the winner of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
