Saif Ali Khan's son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, will make his big Bollywood debut alongside Boney Kapoor and Sridevi's younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor. On March 1, 2025, Netflix released the trailer of their film, Nadaaniyan. However, it failed to impress the netizens.
Ibrahim Ali Khan's debut became one of the most talked about topics in Bollywood since the announcement. The audience initially loved the pairing. However, the trailer's release left the audience unimpressed by both the trailer and the lead couple, Ibrahim and Khushi Kapoor's acting skills. The netizens have since been wondering if the film will be anything fresh. Many netizens even made a comparison between the film and Karan Johar's Student of the Year.
The trailer was soon shared on the discussion platform, Reddit and netizens chimed in to share their views. A user wrote, "Looks like a repackaged SOTY. Also, why does Khushi sound like she’s reading from a paper without any feelings?" Another user commented, "Dev and Sheetal are still together after 25 years ...#iykyk." Some users even pointed out how the side cast of the film seemed more interesting than the leads and penned, "I’d much rather watch a family drama with Suniel, Dia, Mahima and Juggal instead. Cause they were the most captivating part of this trailer." A user wrote in a long note:
"Can we please ban the following people from this industry? The two leads. The person who casted them. The dubbing guy for one of the leads. The writers of this travesty. The person at Netflix who okayed this project. The Nepodaddy who Is just going out of hand."
However, that was not all. Some users even called the film a rendition of some Wattpad fanfiction and wrote, "Omg ew this is like those Wattpad fanfictions where the male/female has to be a pretend boyfriend/girlfriend and then they actually fall in love." Another user penned, "Man Khushi looks like she smelled something really bad every time she tries that serious look. The less said about Ibrahim, the better." Once again, the nepotism debate was brought up and stated:
"The real reason we don't have any new movie stars is because nepos are introduced in their debut films as 'a star' and the producers believe that the audience is gullible enough to just lap it up because they come from a famous family....times have changed, stars have to earn their stripes through their filmography. You can't just buy your way into stardom and expect immediate acceptance."

The Nadaaniyan trailer introduces Ibrahim as 'Arjun Mehta', an ambitious young man who plans to study law and secure a good job. Khushi Kapoor plays 'Pia Jai Singh', a young woman prioritising love over ambition. The story takes a dramatic turn when 'Arjun' breaks 'Pia's' heart, accusing her of paying him Rs. 25,000 every week to act as her boyfriend.
