Two Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots were martyred after a Sukhoi 30MKI fighter jet crashed at Inglong Ekopi Hill in Bokajan Sub Division of the Karbi Anglong district in Assam. It happened on March 6, 2026, during a routine training mission. As per reports, the fighter jet first went missing, leaving everyone in a tense situation, and later it was confirmed that the aircraft had crashed 60 km from Jorhat Air Base.
The heartwrenching news has shaken two young IAF pilots, Anuj Vashisht and Purvesh Durgakr. While Purvesh was unmarried, Anuj Vashisht's family were preparing for his wedding when they heard the heartbreaking news of their brave son's martyrdom. Anuj was martyred in the Indian Air Force Sukhoi fighter plane crash in Assam.

The family is dealing with the toughest time as the father, who hopes that his son put fire to his pyre, has gone to Assam to collect his martyred son's body. As per reports, his grandparents were not informed about Anuj's passing in the crash. It is why the family declined to speak to the media during these tough times.
A relative close to the family, who was standing outside the house, revealed that Anuj's wedding was fixed.
