Bollywood's Greek God, Hrithik Roshan, had the industry and audiences in a tizzy with his debut in the iconic film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. With his good looks, dripping charisma, acting mettle, and stellar dance moves, Hrithik was the complete package, and many touted him as the industry's next big thing. However, the production phase and the period following the film's release weren't easy for the family. In the documentary, The Roshans, Hrithik was seen opening up about all his father had sacrificed to ensure his debut and the overwhelming feeling of leaving it all behind when Rakesh Roshan was attacked.
Hrithik Roshan confessed that he hadn't always had the easiest relationship with his father, Rakesh Roshan. The actor revealed that his father always had a deep love for the people in his life, but he was raised in a generation where men were taught not to show affection or vulnerability. Rakesh had consequently learned to be hard on himself and expressed his love similarly, which was 'often misunderstood.'
Hrithik then recalled the moment he realised how much his father, Rakesh, had sacrificed for him. The actor revealed that he was responsible for colour-correcting in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. However, Rakesh sent out the overseas prints while two or three scenes were yet to be colour-corrected. Hrithik recalled the argument that ensued and said:
"I came to my dad, really upset that, 'How could you let that go?' And I think that was the first time that my dad gave it back to me. He gave it back to me in my face. He turned to my mom, and he said, 'I am doing everything for him, and he's sitting here and he's complaining'. And that's the night I found out, my mom told me, that the house was mortgaged, the cars were mortgaged… I realised how much was at stake."
The final episode of The Roshans, which aired on January 17, 2025, featured archive footage of Hrithik Roshan addressing the attack on his father, Rakesh Roshan, at an award show. For the unversed, Rakesh Roshan was shot twice due to allegedly rejecting the underworld's offer to cast Hrithik in a film funded by them. However, he miraculously drove himself to the hospital after the attack and made a full recovery.
During his speech, Hrithik addressed the incident, saying the past few weeks had been very difficult for his family. The actor confessed that he had lost faith 'in people, in goodness, in the world' due to the attack. However, firmly stating that his family wouldn't be shaken, Hrithik continued:

"I saw no point in all the hard work that we people put in. Basically, nothing made sense. I just wanted to quit before things had even begun for me. I'm up here this evening to let people know that no matter how much some people might want to put us down, we will rise. We believe in one thought, that the show must go on."
Hrithik Roshan reflected on the terrifying incident in the present-day interview for the documentary. The actor stated that although it was a hard time, he hadn't really felt afraid for his dad because he viewed him as 'Superman.' Hrithik said that he felt scared for a moment when he saw the 'blood-red sheets.' However, the fear dissipated when he met his dad. Hrithik recounted:
"But just the next moment, my dad was conversing, laughing, and it seemed like he could handle this. It was only month after that, my mom narrated what had happened the previous night, that my dad had woken up screaming, screaming for help, thinking that he'd been shot at. That was when I realised the vulnerability behind that Superman. He had such a strong facade, he just never let his soft side out."
