Hiten Tejwani has become a household name in Indian television with shows like Ghar Ek Mandir, Kutumb, and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Hiten Tejwani talks about TV actors earning Rs. 1 core within a year

In a recent chat with Digital Commentary, Hiten Tejwani opened up about the gruelling work hours that go behind the scenes. He explained how actors earn their income in television and gave an estimate of how they can even earn in crores if they put in some extra hours of work. Hiten was quoted as saying:

“Depends on what they are charging. If we calculate by say, for example, a minimum of Rs. 7 lakhs for 30 days of shoot, then that makes it Rs 84 lakhs in a year. Plus there may be some ads or any other performances- like some dance perforce- then they will pay you a little extra. So it can go up to Rs 1 crore.”

However, the journey to financial success is no cakewalk. During the same conversation, when asked how long he has worked without a break, Hiten recalled how he once worked non-stop for 24-48 hours at a stretch, catching only brief power naps on set while lighting adjustments were being made. This drill went on for a whole month. The actor shared:

“I worked for a whole month, without a break. Because 24 hours, 48 hours pass by and you don’t even realise it. So, I would take a 10-minute power nap. Then, get up and shoot. Once that scene ends, we change and shoot for the next scene. There is no time.”

Hiten Tejwani talks about the importance of mental strength when working in television

Going further in the interview, the Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi star added that despite the potential for earning from different sources, working full time in television comes with a lot of gruelling challenges. It is thus crucial to have a strong mental capacity to balance the hectic schedules and stay sane. He was heard saying:

“Mentally you have to be very strong. Because if mentally haar gaye na, nahi kar paaoge. Gir jaaoge. Neend aa rahi hai, haalat kharaab ho rahi hai lekin ‘chalo karte hain’. Karna hi hai. Aapko mila hai mauka, usme agar aap relax ho gaye, toh aapko fir kabhi mauka hi nahi milega.”
