Virat Kohli broke the headlines and jammed the streets when he marked his return to the Ranji Trophy. The ace cricketer returned to the format after a gap of 13 years and represented Delhi. It was on January 30, 2025, when Virat stepped inside Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium, and more than 12,000 cricket fanatics attended the much-awaited fixture. While the stadium was packed, some loyal fans of Virat Kohli were also waiting outside the stadium to catch a glimpse of the cricketer.
Everything was set for the big occasion, and the entire stadium chanted for Virat Kohli when he came to the striker's end. Unfortunately, Virat didn’t last long on the pitch, he was there for just 23 minutes. The former captain of the Indian cricket team faced 15 balls and managed to get only six runs. The youngster responsible for silencing 12,000 people with his good-length bowl is none other than Himanshu Sangwan.
Virat Kohli faced an almost similar bowl before getting dismissed and hit a boundary on that delivery, but he couldn't replicate it in Himanshu's second bowl, which beat his inside edge and dismantled his off stump. The right-arm fast bowler of the Railways is posted as a senior ticket collector at the Indian Railways. As expected, after taking the wicket of one of India's greatest players ever, Himanshu was on cloud nine.
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Himanshu Sangwan lauded his senior, Virat Kohli, for coming over to his dressing room and shaking hands with him. The youngster also received an autographed ball from Kohli and shared that the star cricketer praised him with a cheeky comment. Recalling what Kohli said to him, Himanshu shared:
"Virat Bhaiya himself shook hands with me and said, 'Very well bowled'. He told me that I was bowling well. I then told him I wanted to take a picture with him during the lunch break. I went to Delhi's dressing room. I took the same ball with which I got him out. He even asked me whether it was the same ball. He then said jokingly, 'Oh teri ki. Maza aa gaya tujhe toh'."
In the same interview with the Hindustan Times, Himanshu Sangwan also revealed that he took a bus driver's advice and believed in his instinct to get Virat Kohli's wicket. The youngster shared that when he was travelling on his way to the stadium with his team, the bus driver advised him to bowl at the fourth-fifth stump line in order to dismiss Virat Kohli. Himanshu admitted that he believed in himself and bowled exactly on the same line, and the rest is history. Himanshu's revelation that even a bus driver knows Virat's weakness stunned the cricketing world. He said:

"The bus in which we were travelling, even the bus driver told me that you know that you need to bowl at the fourth-fifth stump line to Virat Kohli, and then he will get out. I had self-belief. I just wanted to focus on my own strengths rather than someone else's weaknesses. I bowled to my strengths and ended up getting the wicket."
Himanshu Sangwan was born on September 2, 1995, and made his List A debut on September 27, 2019 for Railways. The cricketer introduced himself to Twenty20 cricket on November 8, 2019, for the Railways in the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the following years, Himanshu made his first-class debut in December 2019. The youngster showed immense potential after taking Virat Kohli's wicket, and it will be interesting to see where his arc goes from here.
We hope Himanshu Sangwan continues to showcase more remarkable performances in the Ranji Trophy for Delhi in the future.
