Kaitlin Olson has been grabbing the attention with her role as 'Morgan Gillory', a consultant for the LAPD Major Crimes Division, in the series, High Potential. Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson first crossed paths on the set of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but even before that, the former watched the High Potential actress. In an IG Post, Rob revealed that even before he moved to L.A., he saw Kaitlin in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2002, and thought to himself that the actress was really funny, beautiful and out of his league, and after all these years, he got to hold her hand as he watched another episode of Curb, which he wishes to do continuously.

Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson crossed paths in 2004, when Kaitlin auditioned for Rob's then-new show, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Well, their opinions about each other were not that great. While Olson thought he wasn't cute enough, he felt she didn't give her best performance in the audition. Years later, Olson said she would take back her comment about Rob not being 'cute,' adding that he didn't want to hire her and had to be talked into it.

Halfway through the first season, High Potential star, Kaitlin Olson lost her heart to her boss, Rob. Speaking to Dax Shepard's podcast, Armchair Expert, the actress said that she developed feelings for Rob for the kind of person and co-star he is. It was Kaitlin who made the first move as they had a game night at one of their co-stars' houses. While she was drunk and made the first move, Rob, who was direct as per the actress, initially remained stunned, asking, 'What are you doing?' Although things started to develop between the duo, they kept it hidden from the cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

While Kaitlin was falling deep for Rob, he wanted to keep it casual and just date. However, Kaitlin knew he was too deeply in love with her and that he didn't yet realise it. Well, she later confronted him, and he realised too that he was in love. An incident took place that made Rob realise that 'I am marrying this chick'. It happened nearly two and a half months into their dating that they went out for drinks. They slept on one bed and Kaitlin later told Rob that 'you sweat like crazy' only that it was not sweating but urine.

Rob McElhenney said that the way Kaitlin kept it light-hearted and tagged it as the funniest thing, made him realise that he wanted to get married to her, and that she was the one. Following this, the couple decided to let their teammates know about their relationship. While Kaitlin was in tears while sharing that she and Rob fell in love, the entire cast was the happiest.
In an interview, Kaitlin revealed that Rob had a few deals while they were dating, and one was that they won't celebrate Valentine's Day, in particular and that if the actress would cheat, it would be the last day that they would talk. Well, things went exactly in the right direction, and Rob proposed to his lady love, Kaitlin, in 2007.

He knelt down on one knee, as he popped the question, holding a vintage diamond cocktail ring from the 1920s at Danny DeVito's Malibu beach house. The next year, in 2008, Kaitlin and Rob got married. The duo exchanged vows at Malibu vineyard in the fall of 2008, and their wedding was attended by their close friends and family members.

It was two years after their wedding that, in 2010, Kaitlin and Rob welcomed their first child, a baby boy, whom they adorably named Axel Lee McElhenney. Speaking about the experience, Kaitlin revealed that she had been really excited, and her husband as well, as for the last few years, they have had the best time, and they were about to begin a new journey, so it was kind of an 'excitement' and 'stupid', as per the actress. As they were spending their best time with their little one growing up, it was only one year later, in 2011, when the couple announced that they were expecting their second baby, another little prince to join the tribe.
It was in 2021, after 16 years, that the couple ended their first collaboration, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Following this, in 2022, they appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and talked about their decades-long relationship. The writer Rob, gushed about their adorable bond and said:
"Being in a relationship is very difficult. We’ve had our ups and downs, we’ve been married for, coming up on 14 years this September. And I can tell you that I love you more now than I did 14 years ago. And that for as hard as it is sometimes, just like in any relationship, I will keep showing up and doing my best, because I love you so much."
