Amid Hera Pheri 3 Controversy, Here Is How Much Akshay Kumar, Paresh, Suniel Earned From Hera Pheri

Hera Pheri was made by Priyadarshan and released in the year 2000. Twenty-five years later, the dialogues, storyline, characters, and songs still resonate with every generation of cinema lovers. The movie and its hilarious comedy have contributed uncountable content to the meme culture of India. That is why when the making of Hera Pheri 3 was announced, excitement was rife among people to experience the chaotic comedy of 'Baburao', 'Raju' and 'Shyam' again. 

However, there is also a curiosity about how much the actors playing these characters earned back then. The first film in the franchise earned triple times more than the original budget. So, here is how much Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal earned in Hera Pheri. 

Hera Pheri was made with a budget of Rs. 7.5 crores, here is how much it earned after its release 

Hera Pheri was made with a budget of Rs. 7.5 crores. After it was released in the theatres, the film became a massive hit and earned Rs. 24.5 crores, which was more than triple the budget. The success of the film resulted in a sequel called Phir Hera Pheri, which was released in 2006. Both these movies became Bollywood cult classics and cemented Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal's careers in the comedy genre. The duo then went on to star in nearly twenty movies together. 

Akshay Kumar, aka 'Raju', was the highest-paid actor in Hera Pheri

 A YouTube video by Reality Universe reported the salaries of many of the stars who acted in the movie. As per those reports, Akshay Kumar was the highest-paid actor. He earned Rs. 20 lakhs for his portrayal of the cunning 'Raju'. Popular as 'Khiladi Kumar', the actor was already well-established in Bollywood and had made a name for himself. However, Akshay Kumar was primarily known for his action films. Hera Pheri was his introduction to the comedy genre. The success of the film launched a successful career for him as an actor with perfect comedy timing. 

Suniel Shetty, aka 'Shyam' came a close second in terms of his salary in Hera Pheri 

Suniel Shetty had a career with some ups and downs when he joined the star cast of Hera Pheri. But he was also a popular Bollywood actor with a significant number of hits under his belt. He had also worked with Akshay Kumar on another film called Dhadkan, which was a commercial hit as well. Suniel Shetty was paid around Rs. 19-20 lakhs for playing the innocent and down-on-his-luck character of 'Shyam'. The actor came a close second to Akshay, who was the highest-paid star of the movie. 

Paresh Rawal, aka 'Baburao' was the least paid actor among the trio in Hera Pheri 

Paresh Rawal's portrayal of 'Baburao' in Hera Pheri is the most iconic character in the history of Bollywood cinema. The movie also depicted the story of the trio and the chaotic situations they got into together. But, out of the three main leads, Paresh Rawal was paid the lowest salary. He was paid Rs. 16-17 lakhs for the movie. Paresh Rawal had appeared in many films prior to Hera Pheri and awed the audience with his acting. However, he had mostly been cast as a supporting character in other films, whereas Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar were both ''Bollywood heroes'.

Tabu, aka 'Anuradha', earned this much as the love interest of 'Shyam'

Bollywood actress, Tabu played the role of 'Anuradha' who was the love interest of Suniel Shetty's character, 'Shyam'. Tabu was paid Rs. 8-9 lakhs in Hera Pheri. The actress had mostly worked in feature and art films, rather than commercial films. Tabu also did not reprise her role as 'Anuradha' in the sequel, Phir Hera Pheri. 

Gulshan Grover, aka 'Kabira' was the main antagonist in Hera Pheri 

Gulshan Grover played the role of 'Kabira', who was the main villain in Hera Pheri. The actor had established his name in the film industry by playing negative roles in many popular movies. For his portrayal of 'Kabira', he took home Rs. 5 lakhs. Gulshan Grover's character could also be seen in the sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, but it was old footage from the first movie. He was also not a part of the second film. 

Kulbhushan Kharbanbda, aka 'Devi Prasad' was paid a good amount for a small cameo 

Veteran Bollywood actor, Kulbhushan Kharbanda played the role of  'Devi Prasad', whose screen time was much less than other supporting cast. However, the character was important to the premise of the plot, and as a result, the actor was paid Rs. 4-5 lakhs for his small cameo. So, Kulbhushan Kharbanda was paid nearly as much as the lead antagonist, Gulshan Grover. 

Om Puri, aka 'Khadak Singh' was paid this much amount as a supporting actor 

Om Puri was another veteran actor who had worked in both commercial and art films. In Hera Pheri, he played the role of 'Khadak Singh', who was a friend of 'Shyam'. He was part of the supporting cast and was paid Rs. 3 lakhs. Om Puri was a familiar face, having acted in many films. But he had mostly played supporting roles in commercial films and hence was paid this amount, as reported by Reality Universe. 

Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty to reprise their roles in Hera Pheri 3, but what about Paresh Rawal? 

There are a lot of doubts surrounding the announcement of Hera Pheri 3. Initially, it was reported that film-maker, Farhad Samji would be directing it rather than the director of the first two films, Priyadarshan. However, Akshay Kumar announced that the director would not be changing. But in a shocking move, Paresh Rawal said that he won't be coming back as 'Baburao'. As per recent updates, Akshay Kumar has sued the actor for reportedly 'sabotaging' Hera Pheri 3. As the controversy surrounding the third movie is heating up, movie lovers are anticipating what the next surprise they will get from the original star cast.
