Hema Malini is one of the most versatile actresses in the Hindi film industry. Her first Hindi film was Sapno Ka Saudagar, which was released back in 1968. Since then, the actress has been winning hearts with her acting talents. Apart from being an actress, Hema Malini is also an outstanding dancer, director, producer, and politician. The veteran actress is currently contesting for the Lok Sabha election as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Talking about her personal life, the ever-so-gorgeous actress is married to Dharmendra and they are parents of Esha and Ahana. In a recent interview, Hema Malini talked about her husband, Dharmendra's reaction to her political career.
In a recent interview with News18, Hema Malini divulged details about her husband, Dharmendra's concern about her political career. The actress revealed that her husband doesn't like it and asked her not to contest the election as it's a very difficult task. Hema added that it's just because Dharmendra had faced difficulties in his political career, which is why he is concerned about the hardship that a political career can bring to his wife. Hema added that she had told Dharmendra that it's a challenge for her.

Talking about the same, Hema Malini mentioned how difficult it was for Dharmendra with his political career, as he had to travel a lot, and people had a craze about a legendary film star like him contesting. Sharing more about the same, Hema Malini stated:
"Dharamji didn’t like it. He told me not to contest election as it’s a very difficult task. He said, ‘I have experienced that.’ So when he said that it’s difficult task, I thought let me take it as a challenge. He faced a problem because he had to travel a lot of distance but he still did a lot of work. But when you are a film star working in politics, people have a lot of craze about you and want to approach you and you can imagine the craze people had about Dharamji. So it used to trouble him. I also face such problems which Dharamji doesn’t like. Because I am a woman so I am able to manage properly.”
In the same interview, Hema Malini added that Vinod Khanna helped her in her political career. Talking about the same, the actress added that Vinod took her to the election campaign and taught her how to give a speech. Talking about the same, Hema Malini shared:
"I was inspired by Vinod Khanna because he took me with him for his election campaign. He taught me a lot, how to give a speech, how to face the public. It’s not a joke to give a speech between 5000-6000 people, you get scared the first time.”

Earlier, in an interview with The Times Of India, Hema Malini lauded her husband, Dharmendra for his dedication. The actress shared that Dharmendra's whole life has been spent in front of the camera, and the actor loves his work. The legendary actress heaped praise on Dharmendra and revealed that the actor is extremely passionate about the work he does. Even at the age of 88, he stays fit and does everything that is required of the particular character of his movie.

Dharmendra and Hema Malini used to be one of the much-loved couples back in their times. It was back in 1970 when the duo met on the sets of the movie, Tu Haseen Main Jawaan. While shooting the film, they loved spending time with one another, and by the end of the film's shooting, they had fallen in love. However, once in an interview with Stardust Magazine, Hema shared that Dharmendra used to fight with her on a daily basis for trivial reasons, and they used to sort out things soon after that as well.
