Hema Malini On Living Away From Dharmendra Amid Reports Of Living With First Wife, 'Nobody Wants..'

When Dharmendra chose to get married again to his love, Hema Malini, the world was shocked as the star was already married with four children. However, Hema Malini never tried to steal him away from his first family and his duties as a father. In fact, their children shared a unique dynamic and respected each other. Everyone was left shocked when decades later, Bobby Deol revealed that Dharmendra had moved in with his first wife, Prakash, while Hema Malini lived away in a bungalow. 

Hema Malini once talked about her living condition with Dharmendra

Hema Malini is the second wife of Dharmendra and together they have two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. In a 2023 interview for Lehren Retro, Hema Malini talked about her living condition with Dharmendra. She accepted that nobody wants to be like that, but it happened to her. And she accepted it, but nobody wants to live their life like this. She said:

"Nobody wants to be like that; it happens. Automatically, what happens, you have to accept. Otherwise, nobody will feel like they want to live their life like this."

Hema Malini further revealed that every woman wants to have a husband and children and live like a normal family, but it was not in her way. However, she doesn't sulk about it and is happy. She was quoted as saying:

"Every woman wants to have a husband, children, like a normal family. But somewhere, it went out of the way… I am not feeling bad about it, or sulking about it. I am happy with myself. I have my two children, and I have brought them up very well."

Bobby Deol revealed how his father, Dharmendra, is living with his first wife in the farmhouse in Khandala

In the past few months, Dharmendra's fans have been worried over his emotional social media post, and they believe that he has been living alone in the farmhouse. However, it was Bobby Deol who confirmed that his father is not alone, but rather with his first wife.  They both are enjoying their time together in the Khandala farmhouse. He was quoted as saying:

"My mum is also there. They’re both at the farm in Khandala right now. Papa and Mummy are together; he just gets a little dramatic. They love being at the farmhouse. They’re also old now, and being at the farmhouse is relaxing for them. The weather is nice, the food is nice. Papa has made a paradise out there."

Dharmendra and Hema Malini's love story began in the 1970s while working on Tum Haseen Main Jawan. The duo had worked in several hit Bollywood films, and while Dharmendra was head-over-heels in love with Hema Malini despite being married with kids, Hema Malini kept her distance from him. But she couldn't resist his love for long. Since Dharmendra couldn't divorce his first wife, Prakash, he converted to Islam to make his second wedding with Hema Malini legal. The couple quietly got married in a nikah in 1980, followed by an Iyengar-style wedding to respect Hema Malini's tradition.
