Hema Malini Had No Regret About Esha Deol Slapping Amrita Rao, 'Koi Galat Baatein Kehte Rehte...'

Esha Deol is one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood. Daughter of veteran actors, Dharmendra and Hema Malini, Esha followed the footsteps of her parents and stepped into Bollywood. She made her acting debut with the film, Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche in 2002. With movies like Yuva, Dhoom, Mai Aisa Hi Hoon and many more, Esha’s career has seen many ups and downs. 

Apart from her professional achievements, Esha is known for her temper. The actress is known for not bearing anyone’s tantrum and unruly behaviour. Whenever we speak about Esha’s temper, her famous fight with actress, Amrita Rao garners attention. The actress had an argument with Amrita and ended up slapping her. However, Esha had no regrets about slapping Amrita.

Hema Malini supported Esha Deol for slapping Amrita Rao

Not just this, even Esha’s mother, veteran actress, Hema Malini, once supported her daughter’s act and justified it. When Hema Malini and Esha Deol made an appearance on the show, Aap Ki Adalat, the mother-daughter duo, discussed the slap gate. Esha admitted slapping Amrita and said:

“Kisi ne agar kuch galat kiya aur hum baaton se unhe samjha nahi paate hain, toh..."

When the host turned towards Hema Malini for her reaction to the controversy, she supported Esha and gave a justification also. The veteran actress indirectly levied the blame on Amrita and stated that there was no other option. In Hema’s words:

“Dekhiya, agar koi galat baatein kehte rehte hain aur samjhaane ke baad bhi nahi samjhte hain toh kuch alag dhang se samjhana padta hai."

Why did Esha Deol slap Amrita Rao?

The incident happened in the year 2006, on the sets of Pyare Mohan, where Esha and Amrita had starred together along with Fardeen Khan and Vivek Oberoi. Although the film flopped at the box office, Esha and Amrita's fallout made it to the headlines. Esha confessed to slapping Amrita in public and revealed that she had no regrets about the same.

It was reported that Amrita said something nasty about Esha, who lost her cool and, in a fit of rage, slapped the Vivaah actress. In a throwback interview with The Times of India, Esha revealed what exactly happened and said:

"Yes, I slapped Amrita. One day after pack-up, she abused me in front of my director, Indra Kumar and my cameraman and I thought that was totally out of line. To protect my self-respect and dignity, in the heat of the moment, I slapped her. I have no regrets because she totally deserved it for her behaviour towards me at that point in time."

However, Esha let the bygones be bygones and forgave Amrita. In one of her earlier interviews with Lehren Retro, Esha Deol claimed that she had forgiven Amrita Rao’s rude behaviour towards her. Well, she mentioned that Amrita’s verbal abuse in front of the filmmaker, Indra Kumar and other members of the crew had made her insecure, and she was left with no other option than to protect her dignity with such a move. Esha added that their relationship over the years has improved as well and said:

“She recognised her mistake, apologised to me and I have forgiven her. Our relationship has improved.”
