In a recent interview, Hema Malini reacted to the following.
2025 was a tough year for the Deol family. They lost their beloved member, Dharmendra. The veteran actor passed away at the age of 89. However, just before his death, the media’s over-intrusive behaviour made his eldest son, Sunny Deol, angry. On November 11, 2025, Hema Malini and Esha Deol also strongly reacted to media sharing false reports of Dharmendra’s death. Sunny had strongly reacted to the paparazzi recording him twice. In a recent interview with The Times of India, Hema Malini reacted to the incident. She mentioned that Sunny got upset and angry. She highlighted that she and the entire Deol family were going through an emotional turmoil at the time. She added that the media’s intrusion during that tough phase was quite a harassment for them. Backing Sunny Deol, Hema Malini said:
"Sunny was getting upset and angry. We were all going through an emotional time, and the media was running behind our cars… harassment bahut hua."

Days before his death, Dharmendra was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. After spending days in the hospital, the actor was taken back to his home, where he was recovering. However, when the media gathered outside his Mumbai residence, his eldest son, Sunny Deol, lost his cool and lashed out at them. During that phase, the cameras zoomed in on the members of the Deol family in order to capture the emotional moments. Reacting strongly to the paparazzi stationed outside the house, Sunny said:
"Aap logon ko sharam aani chahiye, aapke ghar me maa baap hain, aake bache hain. Aur aap log video kare ja rahe ho. Sharam nahi aa rahi."

Kitne paise chahiye tere ko?"
