6 PARA SF's Jhantu Ali Shaikh Martyred: Farmer's Son, Wife-Kids, Here's All About The Braveheart

The Pahalgam attack has claimed 26 innocent lives, and the entire nation is mourning the same. Following this, India has issued a five-point action plan. After the same, a major anti-terror operation was held in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir. It was a joint operation between the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps and Jammu and Kashmir Police. When the forces confronted the terrorists, in the initial gunfight, 6 PARA SF Havildar, Jhantu Ali Shaikh lost his life, due to serious injuries. In this tough situation, the loss of a brave soldier like Jhantu came as another heartbreak for the nation.

Along with the loss of 26 innocent lives, the entire nation is now mourning the demise of the braveheart 6 PARA SF Havildar, Jhantu Ali Shaikh. The counter-terror operation, which was being called Operation Birli Gali, was held on April 24, 2025. Reportedly, during the operation, the warrior of India’s most elite and battle-hardened units fought with terrorists with unmatched courage. It was during the initial fight, that Jhantu sustained severe injuries. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, he couldn't make it and lost his life. The way Jhantu Ali Shaikh sacrificed his life while standing tall in the face of danger is worth all the respect. Jhantu served the nation with unwavering commitment, and the loss of the brave heart is surely heartbreaking.

West Bengal Trinamool Congress called Jhantu the 'Hero Of Bengal'. Apart from that, the General Officer Commanding the White Knight Corps and all the ranks have paid their tribute to the fighter, who sacrificed his life. Jhantu was known for his fearlessness, sharp instincts, and sense of responsibility for his duty to the nation. In their tribute, the ranks said:

"His indomitable courage and the valour of his team will never be forgotten. We salute his supreme sacrifice and stand in solidarity with his family in this moment of grief."

The brave warrior, Jhantu Ali Shaikh hailed from Patharghata village in Krishnanagar, Nadia district. His father, Sabur Ali Sheikh is a marginal farmer, and all his life worked hard so that his three sons could join the Indian Army. Jhantu and his brother, Rafiqul, fulfilled their father's dreams. While Jhantu was an Indian Army commando, his elder brother, Rafiqul also serves in the Indian Army, and is posted in Kashmir. Jhantu's father mourned his demise, and said while his sons fulfilled his dreams, it was short-lived. He could be quoted as saying:

"It was my dream to see them serve the nation. My sons fulfilled that dream, but my happiness was short-lived."

It was in 2008 when Jhantu Ali Shaikh joined the Indian Army. Reportedly, he used to inspire many young people to follow the same path and serve the nation. Jhantu Ali Shaikh is survived by his wife and two kids, a 10-year-old son, and a 6-year-old daughter. His wife reportedly stays in Agra for their kids' education. Jhantu's wife, Sahanaz, returned home after she got the news of her husband's demise. Talking about the same, she reportedly blacked out a couple of times, and she stated that she had no idea about the same, and she got to know that her husband was martyred during the counter-terror operation.
