Harshvardhan Rane has become the man of the hour with the re-release of his 2016 film, Sanam Teri Kasam. Despite making his debut through TV in 2008 and working hard on several projects, he finally got the due with the success of the film's re-release in 2025. But, when the film failed 9 years ago, things were completely different for the actor. In a new interview, Harshvardhan Rane shared how he was affected by Sanam Teri Kasam's failure and why he hasn't let the female attention given to him, get into his head.
Sanam Teri Kasam's re-release has earned double its lifetime earnings of Rs. 16 crore (approx) in three days. However, in an interview with News 18 Showsha, Harshvardhan Rane shared that when the film was originally released, its failure affected him. Consequently, he won't run away from admitting the truth. In his words:
“Break-up jab hota hai, dil toot ta hi hai. People who try to be cool and say that they are unfazed lie. I can also say that the failure of Sanam Teri Kasam didn't bother me, but I won't because it really broke my heart."
Harshvardhan added that he won't usually watch a film with unknown actors. So, when the film was released, he and Mawra Hocane both were new. So, he couldn't expect audiences to flock to theatres for their film. The actor admitted that he tried to accept the film's poor performance and move on from it but found it difficult. Recalling his mindset, Harshvardhan said:
"Over the years, I kept telling myself to accept it and move on. Today, I understand the science and commerce behind filmmaking. I now know why people didn't watch Sanam Teri Kasam in theatres."
In the same interview, Harshvardhan Rane shared that he was affected by the film's failure to such a high extent that he gradually stopped speaking with its team, including his co-star, Mawra Hocane. However, the actor believes that the success of the re-release is the perfect wedding gift for her. Harshvardhan said:
"It was very tough for all of us – directors, producers and actors, to be in touch. I don't want to speak on anybody's behalf, but I was truly heartbroken. When you're heartbroken, you talk less. 'I spoke less and less and less. But for Mawra, what better gift can it be than a great box office number? It's like a gift for her future."
Harshvardhan Rane's role as 'Inder' has brought him a lot female attention with the film's re-release. When asked if it makes him feel awkward, Harshvardhan said that not getting profits for his film's producer makes him awkward. The Haseen Dillruba actor mentioned that female attention doesn't matter if the film is not getting profits.
