Sanam Teri Kasam's re-release has shattered major records at the box office. The film, based on themes of love and heartbreak, was a box office failure during its original release in 2016. But, over the years, it became a fan-favorite on OTT, and audiences demanded a re-release. Until now, the collection of its re-release has already doubled its original earnings. Apart from the wonderful film, audiences loved the chemistry between the lead stars, Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane. But, in real life, Harshvardhan and Mawara have not been in touch for a while. In a new interview, Harshvardhan shared the reason behind it.
Harshvardhan Rane has been grabbing headlines since the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam. He recently sat down for an interview with Filmfare and discussed his bond with co-star, Mawra Hocane. The actor shared that after their film failed in 2016, he lost contact with the actress. Consequently, Harshvardhan believes he is responsible for it. In his words:
"I would like to take the blame for behaving like a silent cricket player who does not talk to anyone after a match. The kind of cricketer who goes silent after losing a match. I take the blame of being that batsman who makes his runs, but if the team loses, he does not stay in touch. That's my fault."
Harshvardhan Rane added that he hopes his co-star, Mawra Hocane, who hails from Pakistan, has seen the collection numbers for their film's re-release. At the same time, he mentioned that she is presently happy in her life due to her wedding to Pakistani actor, Ameer Gilani, and he hopes that the box office success of their film brings some external validation for her. Moreover, he added that it's not just Mawra, he has lost contact with many other people associated with the film. Harshvardhan said:
"I lost touch with the producer, the directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, the costume person, Ankita Dhar, lyrics writer - everyone."
Mawra Hocane, who played the female protagonist in the film, has been making headlines for her grand wedding in Pakistan. Amid the celebrations, the newly-wedded bride was delighted and emotional at the love received by her film after around 9 years of its release. She took to her Instagram handle and re-shared an inside video from the theatre where audiences enjoyed watching the film's re-release. Sharing her surprise, Mawra penned:
"This is absolutely insane, guyizzzz! I hear we're making some records, and the house is full everywhere!!!! Thank you, Thank You, Thank you. Love you all so much."
In an old interview with IANS, Harshvardhan Rane shared that when he reached for the audition, he was 4 months late, and another actor had been finalized for the role. Consequently, he was asked to leave. But he begged and pleaded with the makers to watch his audition. When everyone watched the film, they had tears in their eyes, and although they had to bear losses for changing costumes and other things, Harshvardhan got the role. While Mawra Hocane was among 215 girls who auditioned for the role of Saraswati 'Saru.' But, since she was the only one who looked visually appealing while crying, she was locked for the role.
