Harry Potter, the movie series and J.K. Rowling's books have carved a special place in the hearts of viewers. Now, a reboot of the OG books is making its way to the small screens through HBO. Earlier, the makers dropped the first-ever glimpse of 'Harry Potter', which will be played by 11-year-old actor Dominic McLaughlin. Filming has already begun at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, UK.
The Harry Potter HBO series will feature an entirely new cast, and it's possible that new characters will be introduced, as each book will be adapted into each season of the series, totalling 8 in all. As the HBO series delves into the boy Wizard's world, minute details are expected to be revealed, which were often overlooked in the movies but were very much present in the books. So, let's have a look at the seven characters who could very much be shown in The Harry Potter HBO series.
One of the overlooked characters who can be a part of the series is 'Charlie Wesley'. 'Charlie Wesley's role is present in the OG book, who is 'Ron's brother, working with dragons in Romania. 'Charlie Wesley' has a role in hiring wizards to fight 'Voldemort' and leading reinforcement during the Battle of Hogwarts. 'Winky' can also be shown in the series, who is a house-elf and serves the 'Crouch' family. The other two overlooked characters from the book are 'Frank and Alice Longbottom', who are 'Neville’s parents, but have equally important roles, which were not shown in the movies.
We can also expect the features of 'Peeves', one of Hogwarts' mischievous poltergeists, and 'Ludo Bagman', a Ministry of Magic worker, who also used to be a famous Quidditch player. 'Ludo Bagman' in the books has been shown to play an important role in the Goblet of Fire. Other two overlooked characters, who are expected to be featured in the series are 'Tonk's parents, 'Andromeda and Ted Tonks', and 'Regulus Black', who is Sirius Black’s younger brother. 'Regulus Black' was a follower of 'Voldemort', but later regretted his choices.
Reportedly, the series will take a decade to be finalised, and the first season will reportedly air in either late 2026 or early 2027 on HBO and HBO Max. The makers had earlier dropped the first glimpse of 'Harry' through Dominic McLaughlin, who was seen wearing his uniform from Hogwarts with round glasses. Recently, a video made the rounds on social media, wherein 'Harry' and 'Hagrid' were seen crossing the roads. The glimpse was seemingly from the shooting spot of the series, and it undoubtedly intensified the excitement among the Potterheads, who are eagerly waiting for the series to hit the small screens.

For the unversed, 'Hagrid's role will be played by 'Nick Frost' in the HBO series. Alastair Stout will be seen as 'Ron' while Arabella Staunton will be seen as 'Hermione' in the HBO series. If the reports are to be followed, to select these three leads, a total of 30,000 auditions had taken place. Well, there's no denying the fact that the series is going to be a blast. We'll just have to wait and see if the series can overshadow the OG movie series, which has always remained iconic to Potterheads.
