Indian Women's Team Captain, Harmanpreet Kaur Tries To Touch Jay Shah's Feet, He Refuses

The Indian Women's cricket team, under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, created History when they defeated South Africa in the Women's World Cup 2025. Harmanpreet led the Women in Blue towards their historic win, and when her team won, she was called on stage to take the trophy from ICC chairman, Jay Shah. Now, the moment between both of them went viral as Harmanpreet tried to touch Jay's feet and he refused.

Harmanpreet Kaur showed her sanskaar when she came on stage to touch Jay Shah's feet after receiving the trophy from him. As seen in the viral clip, Jay had the trophy in one hand, and on the other side, Harmanpreet was seen bending to touch Jay's feet. He appeared startled in the video that went viral. Jay stopped Harmanpreet and then bowed down to her, then left the stage and let the cricket team enjoy the moment. Harmanpreet's moment of gratitude video that went viral was captioned as:

"Just see the sanskar. Harmanpreet tried to touch feet of Jay Shah but he refused and in fact, bowed to her as she’s Nari Shakti of Bharat  Then he gave the trophy and left the stage asap after the mandatory photos. These moments of victory will forever remain etched in our hearts."

Harmanpreet Kaur was seen for a short time on the podium of DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. When Jay Shah declined to let Harmanpreet touch his feet, a section of netizens felt it was more like a sports diplomacy and seemed like a PR moment for Jay Shah. However, millions who watched the match knew that Harmanpreet had her moment that she had waited for years. 

Soon after Harmanpreet took the trophy from Jay Shah, she looked at her teammates, held it, pretending to lift it, before triumphantly raising it above her head. The clip then showcased fireworks in the background, along with tears of joy, as Harmanpreet's teammates, one by one, took the chance to lift the trophy, dance, cry, and laugh their hearts out. The Indian Women's Team's maiden 52-run victory against South Africa was a result of years of hard work, dedication, persistence, and also heartbreak.
