Former Indian spin-bowler, Harbhajan Singh has once again made it to the headlines after he was spotted with former captain of the Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni, at an event. This encounter has sparked buzz about their rift, reigniting rumours of their decade-long feud.
Recently, a clip went viral on social media, where Harbhajan and Dhoni were seen attending an event together. One moment from the clip that grabbed everyone’s attention, showed Dhoni pulling out a chair for Harbhajan, who responded with an awkward expression.

This seemingly simple exchange between Harbhajan and Dhoni has stirred up controversy, especially considering the former’s revelation last year that he hadn't spoken to Dhoni in over a decade. Netizens wasted no time in resharing the clip, with many calling out Harbhajan for this awkward encounter. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one fan tweeted, "Dhoni pulls a chair for Harbhajan, but Bhajji pulls a ‘what am I doing here’ face! Fake friendships getting exposed in public”. Another tweet read, “Harbhajan Singh is Ashneer Grover. MS Dhoni is Salman Khan.” One user wrote:
"Harbhajan said he hasn’t spoken to Dhoni in 10 years. Bro, even my neighbor who I ignore says ‘hello’ once a year!"
The video has once again stirred the controversies that surfaced last year after Harbhajan’s shocking revelation about Dhoni. In an interview with News 18, Harbhajan revealed that their last proper conversation was during his stint with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2018-19, and even then, their exchanges were limited to on-field discussions. He claimed:
"No, I don't speak to Dhoni. When I was playing at CSK, that's when we spoke, but otherwise, we haven't spoken. It's been 10 years and more. I have no reason; perhaps he does. I don't know what the reasons are. When we were playing in the IPL at CSK, that's when we used to talk and that, too, was restricted to the ground.”

While Harbhajan clarified that he held no grudges against Dhoni, his statements fueled speculation about an underlying tension between the two cricketing legends. Talking about their bond, Harbhajan shared in the same interview:
“I don't have anything against him. If he has something to say, he can tell me. But if he did, he would have told me by now. I never tried to call him because I have a lot of passion. I only ring up those who pick up my calls. I don't have the time otherwise. I stay in touch with the ones I am friends with. A relationship is always about give and take. If I respect you, I hope you will respect me back. Or you respond to me. But if I call you once or twice but don't get a response, I will probably only meet you as much as I am needed to.”
Harbhajan and Dhoni shared the field for 212 international matches, playing crucial roles in India’s victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup. However, after the 2011 World Cup, Harbhajan was seen in only a handful of ODIs, Test matches, and T20Is.
