The Bengali film industry, aka Tollywood, is currently in mourning following the passing of an extremely talented actor, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee. Rahul, known for his works in both movies and television serials, died on March 29, 2026, after a drowning accident in the sea at Talsari beach, Odisha. He was just 43 years old when the mishap occurred after the wrap-up of his shoot for his ongoing serial, Bhole Baba Paar Karega. On March 31, 2026, the actor's well-wishers came together to pay their final respects to Rahul. Amid that, his rumoured ex-girlfriend, Rooqma Ray's heartbreaking comments on his sudden demise have surfaced.

Rahul Arunoday Banerjee and Rooqma Ray shared a close bond, with some even wondering if they were dating at one point. The 31-year-old actress is still in disbelief at the untimely death of Rahul. Following his death, News18 Bangla reached out to Rooqma for a comment regarding the tragic incident, and she shared her heartbreaking reaction to the same. She expressed deep shock and disbelief at the sudden demise of her Laalkuthi co-star, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee. Rooqma stated that she initially thought the news was a fake report when a friend informed her about it.

Rooqma Ray then tried calling Rahul's phone, hoping that he would answer. However, to her surprise, the Tollywood actor's driver, Bablu answered instead of him. Bablu narrated the entire incident to her, and upon hearing it, she didn't know how to react. Rooqma recalled that her hands and legs were shaking, and she froze due to shock. Her statements, which she shared in Bangla, can be translated into English as:

"I still can't believe it. A friend called me yesterday afternoon and said that Rahul da (attribution for older brother) is no more. I told him/her, 'Don't talk nonsense...I am calling Rahul da right away.' I called Rahul da but Bablu da (Rahul's driver) picked up the phone. He told me everything. My hands and legs were shaking after hearing it."

These rumours surfaced while Rahul was estranged from his wife, Priyanka Sarkar. During this period, he was also linked to another co-star, Sandipta Sen, whom he similarly denied.
