Halle Berry Claps Back At Ex-Husband, David Justice After His Comment On Her Not Being 'Motherly'

Halle Berry is one of the most loved American actresses, with a huge fan base. She was first married to Baseball player, David Justice. However, their wedding ended after a few years. However, after many years of their split, David recently hit the headlines for revealing the reason for their split and stated that the actress wasn’t ‘motherly’.

Halle Berry recently celebrated her 59th birthday, and she made sure to show the world how she celebrated her most important day. Taking to her IG handle, Halle shared an array of pictures from her vacation with her loved ones. Along with the carousel of pictures, Halle took a dig at her ex-husband, David Justice with her caption as she wrote:

“Phew...! cooking, cleaning and mothering.”

Recently, in an appearance on Matt Barnes' podcast, All The Smoke, the former MLB player, David Justice, revealed the reason behind his divorce from the actress in 1997. He claimed that back in those days, he thought that a wife should cook, clean and be traditional. He was quoted as saying:

"My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn't vast. So, I'm looking at my mom — and I'm a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I'm thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know?" 

In the same podcast, David shaded Halle for not being a traditional wife and even had doubts about how he would start a family with the actress. David also pointed out that she didn’t cook, clean, or show any maternal instincts. In his words:

“Then I'm thinking, 'OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?' At that time, as a young guy — she don't cook, don't clean, don't really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues."

Halle Berry and David Justice first met in 1992 and got married just five months later. David revealed that it was Halle who asked him to marry her, and he wasn't able to deny her proposal. David stated the reason behind it and revealed that he didn't want to make her feel bad by denying the proposal. They tied the knot in 1993. After three years of being together, the ex-couple decided to part ways, and they divorced each other in 1997.

After her divorce from her first husband, David Justice, Halle found love in popular R&B singer Eric Benet and got married in 2001. Soon, she ended her marriage with him because of his infidelity. In 2013, Halle Berry got hitched for the third time to renowned French actor, Olivier Martinez, but that too couldn’t sustain and ended in divorce in 2015. After her separation, Halle and Oliver spent years in legal battles, finally finalising their divorce in 2023.
