Greg Cipes Revealed He Was Fired As Teen Titans Go's 'Beast Boy' After His Parkinson's Diagnosis

Teen Titans Go! is an American animated television series that premiered on April 23, 2013. It has since become one of the most loved cartoon shows among Gen Zs and even millennials. However, the fans of the show received heartbreaking news as the voice behind the green-skinned prankster, 'Beast Boy', Greg Cipes, was let go after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The revelation has led to a massive online debate about the actor's role in the show.

Greg Cipes was fired after his Parkinson's diagnosis

It was on the eve of September 8, 2025 (PT), when internet journalist and DC superfan, Emmanuel Newsome tagged James Gunn in a social media post, urging him to reach out to Greg Cipes. The journalist claimed that the former Teen Titans Go! Star had shared some extremely 'upsetting details' about how Warner Bros. discriminated against him because of a diagnosis he had no control over.

Greg Cipes later responded to the post, further clarifying the circumstances surrounding his firing. He stated that Warner Bros. fired him on Valentine's Day, right after he publicly announced his diagnosis. He added that it was like a death penalty for him, as his career was snatched away from him. He was quoted as saying:

"After almost 24 years playing beast boy WB made me audition three times while the rest of the cast was offered to the next season without auditions. It’s discrimination. Warner Bros. literally fired me on Valentine’s Day right after I publicly shared my Parkinson’s diagnosis. It’s like a death to me that only the fans can bring back to life. They are having an impersonator try to mimic me. Basically stealing my voice. The voice I created and the voice that I can still do even with Parkinson's."

In a follow-up comment, Emmanuel Newsome added that he will be creating a petition for Greg Cipes to get his job back. For the uninitiated, Greg has been the voice of 'Beast Boy' since the original Teen Titans show premiered in 2003 and later continued as the voice of the character in Teen Titans Go! He voiced 'Beast Boy' as well as 'Adonis' and 'Private H.I.V.E.'. Greg has also lent his voice to characters in shows such as Young Justice, Ben 10 (2016), Milo Murphy’s Law, DC Super Girls, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!

Netizens react to Greg Cipes being let go

The news soon reached the discussion platform, Reddit, and netizens started chiming in to share their views on the same. A user penned, "Greg Cipes IS Beast Boy. Period. This is absolutely, completely unhinged of WB." Another added, "How absolutely disgusting. Hopefully, enough people make enough noise that they'll be forced to reverse it." A user in a long note wrote:

"It's not only monstrous, it's phenomenally dumb given he's a voice actor. It would change next to nothing about his job, nor would it overly impact his ability to perform his role. So they are not just heartless, they are very dumb."

A comment read, "First of all, that's horrifying to have Parkinson's at 45. Second of all, if WB fired him because of that, what the actual hell?" On the other hand, some people suggested that they wait to get all the facts before taking sides. A user penned, "There has to be more to this. Nothing this 'cut and dry' is ever that simple." A comment stated, "We should wait and see what the facts are before jumping to conclusions."
