Govinda ruled the hearts of audiences in the '90s with his impeccable comic timing, entertaining dance moves and versatile acting. His films like Hero No.1, Dulhe Raja and Coolie No.1 used to pull large crowds towards theatres. Despite a decline in his career during the past decades, everything about the actor makes headlines. For instance, recently, the news about the demise of Govinda's secretary, Shashi Sinha, went viral, and fans expressed their condolences. However, the latter revealed he was healthy and alive in a surprising turn of events.
After the news about the death of Govinda's secretary made headlines, Shashi Sinha and his family began receiving many condolence messages on March 6, 2025. Consequently, he sat down for an interview with IANS and revealed that he had been fine. Revealing how he has been mistaken for someone else, he said:
"I have been receiving numerous condolence messages and calls on my phone since the false news of my death circulated."
He added that the Bhagam Bhag actor's former secretary, Shashi Prabhu, who shares the same name had passed away. Given the similarities in their name and the posts they held, many news portals and fans were puzzled, which led to this confusion. Shashi Sinha added that Shashi Prabhu looked after Govinda's work for some years. Since then, he has taken over the responsibility. Sharing details about late Shashi Prabhu and Govinda's bond, Sinha was quoted as saying to Etimes that:

Team Bollywoodshaadis extends their heartfelt condolences on Shashi Prabhu's demise.
