Hero No. 1 star, Govinda, and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, have often made headlines for their bond. But this time, they are gaining attention for a different reason. For the unversed, recently, Sunita revealed on a podcast that Govinda spends lakhs on consulting a priest with whom he has a long-term relationship. This comment didn’t sit well with the senior actor, and he issued a public apology and called his wife’s remark 'disparaging'.

On November 4, 2025, Govinda issued a public apology through a video after his wife, Sunita Ahuja, made a derogatory remark about Pandit Mukesh Shukla, their family priest. In the clip, the Jaan Se Pyaara actor shared that he has been consulting Pandit Mukesh Sharma for years now and deeply respects him. He also mentioned that Pandit Mukesh Sharma was their family priest for years. He condemned his wife’s remark and asked for an apology. Govinda later added that Pandit Mukesh Sharma and his family have been with him in his tough times. He was quoted as saying:

"My wife made disparaging remarks against Pandit Mukesh Shukla on the podcast, and I condemn them. My deepest apologies. Pandit Mukesh Ji and his family have been with me in tough times, and I respect him a lot."

What did Sunita Ahuja say in the podcast?

Sunita recently appeared on the podcast Abraa Kaa Dabra Show, hosted by Bigg Boss 13 fame, Paras Chhabra. During the episode, the celebrity wife spoke about the Hero No. 1 actor's habit of consulting pandits. Hearing this, the host pointed out that many priests don’t have the right intentions. This statement led Sunita to disclose that she also knew a pandit who fell into the same category. Sunita mentioned that she had told Govinda to pray on his own because the puja performed by their pandit wouldn’t help him. She was quoted as saying:

"We also have one in our house, Govinda’s pandit (priest). He is also like this, only gets pujas done, charges Rs 2 lakhs. I tell him that you should pray on your own, unka karaaya hua puja paath kuch kaam nahi aane wala hai."

She also added that she doesn’t believe in all this and just believes in her karma. Sunita shared that she told Govinda to do the same. Later, the celebrity wife mentioned that she has a wish to make an old-age home with her own money. In her words:

"God will accept the prayers that you do on your own. I don’t believe in all this. Even if I donate or do any good deed, I do it with my own hands for my karma. Darne wala darr jaata hai. It’s my heart’s wish to make an old age home and a shelter for animals. I will make sure to do that with my own money. I will not take even a single rupee from Govinda because he won’t give money to me, but only his chamchas."
